AFTERMATH: The lesson of Barack Obama
The Peter Heck Show ^ | 11/9/2012 | Peter Heck

You don't win elections by running to the center. You win elections by rallying and exciting your base.

Check out the audio link on the main page. Tell me what you all think, but I think it's spot on.

First, you have control the media. Media will help you cover bad news, distract public attentions, divide your opponents and brainwash voters.

Obama won by CHEATING which was protected,
and ENCOURAGED by the DO”J” over the last four years.

CHEATING has made America a true banana republic
of the worst kind, run by lying Communists and their
MSM on its knees.

The problem is that the base itself has proportionally not kept with the changing population. New voters (youngsters or newly naturalized ones) do not feel connection to the party. The older voters are not getting any younger or energetic.

Did anyone notice during RNC vs DNC? RNC has almost all white and older faces. RNC did not even have token minorities in the audience. In contrast, the DNC was full of diversity (except diversity of opinion).

Republicans are apparently living in an alternate make-believe universe invented by talking heads and pundits. They rejected polls showing Obama ahead... saying that the polls are biased and how Romney’s victory was a foregone conclusion.

Not to mention the problem with having an unlikable, stiff, moderate and flip flopping Romney representing the party. Had it been a more likable personality (like Huckabee, despite his record), it could have been a different deal.

The gist of the radio show was this:

1. You keep your base with you by appealing to your base and not alienating them. Let's face it; Romney and GOPe tried to go to the center and lost because they alienated the conservative base.

2. If you want to keep your base, you back your people running in the elections or who are already in office. Biden is defended constantly though he is an absolute idiot, but because they do the base keeps energized. Akin and Mourdock made gaffs to be sure, but because Romney and everyone running his election came out on the side of the Democrats and told them they should step down and not run, the conservative base was angered and stayed home.

The underlying premise; always run someone who can rally the base and let the other segments of voters, the moderates and liberals, decide for themselves who they will back and don't worry about trying to "appeal" to them or go to the center. In addition, you back and protect your own, no matter how goofy they are or if you don't totally agree with their stances on issues.

Reagan ran on conservative ideas and won, Bush Sr got one term before he was crucified on a broken promise because appealed to the conservative base. So did Bush Jr. But Dole, McCain and now Romney tried to run to the center and lost.
