FBI Investigation Led to Petraeus Resignation
NewsMax ^ | 11/09/12 | Ronald Kessler

Ronald Kessler reporting from Washington, D.C. — The resignation of David H. Petraeus as CIA director followed an FBI investigation of many months, raising the question of why he was not forced out until after the election.

In his letter of resignation, Petraeus cited an extra-marital affair he had been having. “After being married for over 37 years, I showed extremely poor judgment by engaging in an extramarital affair,” Petraeus said in his letter to President Obama. “Such behavior is unacceptable, both as a husband and as the leader of an organization such as ours.”

Petraeus, who had a distinguished military career, revealed no additional details. However, an FBI source says the investigation began when American intelligence mistook an email Petraeus had sent to his girlfriend as a reference to corruption. Petraeus was commander of U.S. Forces in Afghanistan from July 4, 2010 until July 18, 2011.

The investigation began last spring, but the FBI then pored over his emails when he was stationed in Afghanistan.

The woman who was having an affair with Petraeus is a journalist who had been writing about him.

Leaving a compromised CIA Director in charge to avoid the issue coming out before an election? Sounds like good impeachment material to me.

Catherine Herridge?

She had a lot of inside scoop on the Benghazi thing.

But then, if the FBI had been tracking this for awhile, maybe that’s not right.

Well, anyway, Petraeus and LA Mayor Villaraigosa should get together for drinks. They both cheated with reporters, broke up marriages, embarrassed the people they were supposed to serve.

Wait, remind me again why Bill Clinton was OK?

This whole thing stinks to high heaven.

Suddenly FBI info is splashed in the newspapers about that “SOB Petraeus”

Meanwhile back at the ranch aw shucks Billy Boy just won the election for Obamba and suddenly people care about potential blackmail again.

Yeah, wow, it sounds as though Petraeus had gone off the deep end, like Sanford. It also sounds as though the woman was using him for inside information and when he was of no further value, dumped him.

Wake up folks, this was delayed to protect Bill Clinton as Obama’s surrogate, and to get General P when they didn’t need him anymore.

But suddenly it matters again what you do under a desk. Wake up you manipulated populace!

slate.com is reporting that it’s Paula Broadwell, Patraeus biographer, and that the FBI was investigating her for trying to access Patraeus’ computer.

Fox just said it was a biographer. Not Herridge.

that’s what the NBC story linked on Drudge says too. They wouldn’t name names if it wasn’t her. Well General, I hope she was good.

A few months back someone here started a thread with the fantasy that the Pubs should dump Romney and draft Petraeus. At the time I asked what we really know about him besides that he was a good miltary leader. I was thinking about disappointments like Wesley Clark and Colin Powell, but hey.

Why? Two term “hero” Bill piece of crap Clinton just won an election from you. When will you people learn? This was hidden to protect Clinton due to obvious comparisons, then used to destroy Petraeus.

Gee who is more susceptible to blackmail? You think?

Yep, must have been some booty he was getting to warrant thousands of emails over several months AFTER she broke up with him. Not only was he stupid he was also pu$$y whipped. Nice to have such men in positions of power. Of course, this is nothing new. He only merits a shrug from me. Moving on.

“who is this beyotch”

According to Fox it’s the woman who was helping him write his autobiography.

VERY elaborate make-believe story to get Petraeus out of the testifying spotlight. Too many of the usual suspects bailing for one reason or another.
