“This was a central question during the election,” Obama said in his first postelection comments on the economy. “The majority of Americans agree with my approach.”

Following up, Obama’s spokesman said later that the president would veto any legislation extending tax cuts for families making $250,000 or more.

The president, speaking in the White House East Room, said he wasn’t wedded to every detail of the plans he outlined during the election, adding, “I’m open to compromise.” But he offered no indication that he was willing to back down.

The tax increase will likely happen, but the commensurate budget cuts in social spending will be illusory. Real cuts will only come in defense which Barry Soetero secretly wants anyhow and the political consequences, of which, are more palatable then reductions in social spending. Dependent people are more worried about getting free things and less concerned about protecting this Republic.

So true. The GOP should be asking Obama “so what are you going to do?” and then just stand back and let the collapse begin.

I am not willing to walk into the gas chamber of debt and taxation.

You obviously don't understand what the O-man means by compromise. He won, you see, so compromise means conservatives must compromise their core principles and do what the O-man says.

Get it now?

No you liar O, the majority of Americans still don’t agree with your approach. Rather, your party ginned up more voter activity. You’d be screaming about how “disproportionate” the GOP vote was if Mitt had prevailed.

And, the revenue will fall in spite of higher tax RATES which does not equate to more tax REVENUE... kind of like “beatings will continue until morale improves”

They can cut defense spending all they want. They can even get rid of the military all together. The military was there to protect the United States of America. Unfortunately, it has already fallen from within.

The less painful for those laying siege is to avoid loss by assualt and, instead, rely on attrition. Starve your enemy to submission by withdrawal of intellectual, material, and spiritual sustenance. Then, your enemy will either support you or retreat to the shadows of doubt and disbelief.

Yes, higher tax rate != more revenue. More economic activity does increase tax revenue. Simple, but confiscatory demotards never read Gibbon’s Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire and don’t realize or refuse to acknowledge that failing civilizations always increase the tax burden till economic activity lessens. Thereby, inviting further tax increases and further reduced revenues — death spiral.

He has never been forced to prove that small businesses that file as an S corporation that just make it into the 250K “profit” area are RICH. OR that all that money is 100% pocketed by only the owner, and not to being plowed back into the business, expanding the business, paying off debt, etc.

In the same token the Republicans FAILED to get this point across and get enough people to understand this fact of life.

From what Limbaugh said, wealthy[I do not refer to anyone that supports obama as “American”] individuals overwhelmingly supported obama. The owner of the Pittsburg Steelers still does. So I don’t give a damn what he does to them.

Of course....that’s the whole point/
HE knows the rich already pay virtually all the taxes.
Certainly the RICH know they pay virtually all the taxes
already.
Obama is always putting it this way ....”a little bit more”,
which is something his followers can easily memorize, and it feels so good in their guileless mouths.
What Obama is cynically after, with that “little bit more” is nothing less than to accelerate the trend that’s been underway for years: a further disinvolvement of American business with the business of America. He can thus point to
that, and say “See! I told you about them!” But I don’t think as you do that he plans on further killing the goose that laid the golden egg.His master plan is to invest American taxpayer money in a myriad of “investments”, some of them ideological (Money to the Muslim Brotherhood),some of them purely economic (funding oil exploration in Brazil, rather than here, for example)-—you see, Obama is using America and its wealth (that means US) for objectives that have nothing clearly to do with the development of a healthy American, homegrown economy. That’s not what he’s about.
He is ever so much closer to fulfilling the role I sensed he was playing from the very beginning: he is the EMISSARY of cultures and economies, and national interests and religious/ideological identities NOT OUR OWN. Hey, all these
“folks” need representation, and they’ve got OBAMA~

One of the bittersweet benefits when taxes are levied on taxpayers making $250,000 jointly will be the “disproportionate” increase in taxes that will come from the citizens of the Blue states as compared to the Red states.
Of course it will be another issue for ‘EQUALITY”

I don’t doubt that that is what he would like, but it is up to the other side to negotiate as effectively as he does. They have plenty of leverage since tax legislation must begin in the House.

Too bad the calculus did not exist in Rome’s day, not that they would pay any more attention to it than our dear Big Ears who said even high school math challenges him too much.

He hates what it was, what it stood for.

Blind liberal. There was a reason the US was called the worst country in the world except for all the others.

He and his are relatively insulated from the disaster it will turn into if he gets his way. He’ll be lionized back in Kenya if worse comes to worst.
