Central Intelligence Agency Director David Petraeus has resigned, citing an extra-marital affair, NBC News reported.
"Yesterday afternoon, I went to the White House and asked the President to be allowed, for personal reasons, to resign from my position," Petraeus said in his resignation letter. "After being married for over 37 years, I showed extremely poor judgment by engaging in an extramarital affair. Such behavior is unacceptable, both as a husband and as the leader of an organization such as ours."

Call it being tossed under the bus to cover Benghazi.
Catherine Harris is saying take his reason at face value but look at timeline of Benghazi. Questioning if he will still testify.
Don’t rush to judgement. This is far more normal for men of great power.
Much more interesting is if he refused to buckle to blackmail.
This looks like a paint job done after the fact. General Petraeus is taking retirement from the CIA not for this stated reason, but because he was not willing to act the patsy for this criminal regime operating out of the White Hut.
The cover story, that he indulged in an extramarital affair, is meant to make him radioactive and therefore unacceptable for some future run for high office as a Republican. The tarnish is there, and nothing much can make it go away now.
However, if he were to run as a Democrat, this sort of story would be a resume enhancement. Depending on who put the pressure for this story to be delivered to the press, he will become a satellite of either Hillary or Obama in what would currently be a non-official position, but kept on staff as a “resource person”. And to keep him shut up about what REALLY happened in the CIA.
But I do not view General Petraeus as being a liberal Democrat in any manner. If anything, he is perhaps one of the most APOLITICAL generals we have had in some time.
Smells like a honey trap. Put someone with a reputation like Petraeus in charge of the intelligence agency, and then control him through blackmail.
Was this the pressure point used to have him give cover to the ridiculous “video mob” story in Libya?
Why did he wait until after the election to resign?

maybe this “extra marital affair” is an excuse to get away from CIA problems.
Right after the election. Hillary isn’t wasting any time. The guy was supposed to shut up and fall on his sword over Benghazi. A real Democrat would have been defending Obama after Benghazi. He just got thrown under the bus and told the President “Thank you!”. A real rookie in the political world of the Democrats. All them stars, and they just played him.

Nobody who was loyal to Obama would have had any problem with any “extramarital affair” with animal, vegetable or mineral. This is totally phony, whether or not he had an affair.
I suspect it really burned Petraeus, even though he was pretty complaisant with the ROE, to be Obama’s stooge over Benghazi, and now he’s looking for a way out where he can take the blame and not be assinated in his sleep.
Everything that comes out of the Obama WH sounds fishy.
I acknowledged his 2008 presidency with a small “p”. This time I cannot even do that. I still question the results of this election therefore cannot yet acknowledge him as the small “p” president.
Seems to be a trend amongst the most ‘ethical’ administration, which promotes and condones anything homosexual, opiate related, feminist, anticapitalist, and/or Muslim, to only have its personnel resign or relieved over conventional social lusts such as adultery or alcohol abuse.
We know this Administration doesn’t find anything immoral in sexual immorality, nor intoxication, nor graft/extortion, but their security/defense/intel personnel replacments are always associated with such labeled ‘criminal behavior’.
Let the meltdown begin. They are falling like ducks. I expect in about a year (or less) Obama will be forced to resign or impeached.

Just the fact that he served under Obama would’ve ended it. He’d be another Huntsman.
