This is starting to sound like a military coup. All the high ranking naval officers,Seals and now Petreaus. On top of it all we can’t even prosecute a mass murderer at FT Hood because he has a effing beard.

Yesterday afternoon, I went to the White House and asked the President to be allowed, for personal reasons, to resign from my position as D/CIA. After being married for over 37 years, I showed extremely poor judgment by engaging in an extramarital affair. Such behavior is unacceptable, both as a husband and as the leader of an organization such as ours. This afternoon, the President graciously accepted my resignation.
As I depart Langley, I want you to know that it has been the greatest of privileges to have served with you, the officers of our Nation’s Silent Service, a work force that is truly exceptional in every regard. Indeed, you did extraordinary work on a host of critical missions during my time as director, and I am deeply grateful to you for that.
Teddy Roosevelt once observed that life’s greatest gift is the opportunity to work hard at work worth doing. I will always treasure my opportunity to have done that with you and I will always regret the circumstances that brought that work with you to an end.

I ain’t buying it. Marital infidelity grounds for stepping down as a military commander? The dems just won an election running on vaginas, and now they are citing immoral behavior? Who are they kidding? Boilerplate cover for deeper issues.
Scandal? What scandal? There is nothing about a scandal on cnn. :-). There is a senate coverup hearing next week on libya and no one even knows about it. The whole thing is being buried.

Petraeus is being set up as the Benghazi fall-guy. Extra marital affairs are matter of course for democrats...certainly tolerated if not celebrated.

No. I hope we have another George Washington who COOKS OBAMA’S GOOSE and testifies against him on Benghazi. On the downside, we will see 0bama replace the ‘remotely-American’ members of team zero with full-on MARXISTS now. John Kerry in the administration is horrific and it’s only to get worse. Wouldn’t surprise me if Roseanne Barr gets appointed as U.N. Ambassador.
Even if he doesn't, he's a shoo in for one of the jobs in the revolving door business of governing and lobbying.
