I can’t get inside the general’s mind but what is the purpose of so openly confessing to an extramarital affair unless it was being held over his head to extort him? He could have been blackmailed by his girlfriend or by the White House. Chicago could have private investigators tracking everybody in D.C.

Nobody rotates their Intel leadership upon a new election. Too many other positions of power are rotating and the leadership needs reliable timely intel when reforming their teams.
IMHO, there is an outside timetable driving events. Track the events and record the timelines for planned, preplanned, branch and sequal operations. A 4 year timeline may have just been initiated. Observe what happens (decision points) in 15, 30, 45, 60 and 90 day increments.
IMHO Petraeus won’t talk, so he doesn’t end up like Colby.

I think as long as he used condoms provided by the government It all ok in our new world under democrats. but if he didn’t and his girlfriend became pregnant, that would be ok as well because Obama would help them go to Planned Parenthood and schedule an abortion and then even if it didn’t work and the child survived the abortion, Obama believes that the Doctor would be able to murder the child.
And if the doctor saw Patreus and they liked each other they could get married and smoke some together. So why would he resign? They could listen to some Jay-Z.

During the first weeks of the Benghazi fiasco, there was one news item where it seemed like someone in the administration was acting responsibly. That was when Petraeus said that no one in the CIA had ordered anyone to stand-down while those in the consulate were asking for help. He seemed to be defending his organization, then he seemed to go silent.
I wonder if the affair could have been used to shut him up and blackmail him after that, and now he’s putting it out there and resigning to get out from under a blackmail.
And maybe he plans to tell the truth at the hearings.
Just using a little imagination and many things are possible at this point.

Yeah; Petraeus’ statements never made sense. Even at the very beginning, the Fox military pundits, McInerny and Hunt were basically speechless that he’d blame the video. They know him well and said that it just isn’t him. They could not understand why he was lying. Now we know; the thugs had the dirt on him — most likely complete with photos.
Anyhow, now that it’s out in the open, he’s free to tell the truth. He may end up in Fort Marcy Park, or the Chicago equivalent (suicide with four shots in the back of the head), but at least he’d have been the patriot he started out to be.
I shouldn’t laugh....but I did! lol
I have to question if anybody ever threatened to expose this in order to get his cooperation on the Bengahzi situation prior to the election. If so, that is a crime, a very serious felony called extortion of a federal official.

Maybe Petraeus looked at the names being mentioned for the Democratic nomination in 2016, decided it was a weak field, and sees this as a resume enhancer for 2016.
