Ephesians 6:12 King James Version (KJV)

12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places I think that because of almost 1 Century of This country ignoring and abandoning G*D's for this country will he has let Satan have his way with us.

Another single sentence, passing thought vanity. We want more like it!

I am in agreement with you, USNV.

And don’t let the self-appointed hall monitors grind you down. A number of the “vanities” I have read lately are head and shoulders above the thought of the scribbling class so often posted as “wisdom.”

"The trumpets have most likely already been sounding"

At least a few of those weird, other-worldly trumpet sounds heard around the world last year were NOT, I believe, hoaxes. They might have been the real thing.

I hadn’t heard about those. It’s the general thinking of prophecy scholars that the “trumpets” of Revelation are actually the shofars (rams’ horns) spoken of in the Old Testament. One Bible prophecy scholar I’ve heard thinks that the next thing to come is the war that’s spoken of in Revelation emanating from the Euphrates River that kills one-third of mankind. He posits that the first two trumpets were WWI and WWII. The guy’s name is Irvin Baxter who has a program on a Christian channel (Endtime) Again, I’m not a scholar of any kind and don’t pretend to be.

I read this book.

BTW, this book was written in 1881; you wouldn't believe how accurate it is!

The End of the Present World

Reading this book was one of the greatest graces of my life!"
— St. Thérèse of Lisieux

In the late nineteenth century, Father Charles Arminjon, a priest from the mountains of southeastern France, assembled his flock in the town cathedral to preach a series of conferences to help them turn their thoughts away from this life’s mean material affairs—and toward the next life’s glorious spiritual reward. His wise and uncompromising words deepened in them the spirit of recollection that all Christians must have: the abiding conviction that heavenly aims, not temporal enthusiasms, must guide everything we think, say, and do.

When Father Arminjon’s conferences were later published in a book, many others were able to reap the same benefit—including fourteen-year-old Thérèse Martin, then on the cusp of entering the Carmelite convent in Lisieux. Reading it, she says, “plunged my soul into a happiness not of this earth.” Young Thérèse, filled with a sense of “what God reserves for those who love him, and seeing that the eternal rewards had no proportion to the light sacrifices of life,” copied out numerous passages and memorized them, “repeating unceasingly the words of love burning in my heart.”

Now the very book that so inspired the Little Flower is available for the first time in English.

Let the pages of The End of the Present World and the Mysteries of the Future Life fill you with the same burning words of love, with the same ardent desire to know God above all created things, that St. Thérèse gained from them. Let them also enrich your understanding of certain teachings of the Faith that can often seem so mysterious, even frightening:

  • The signs that will precede the world’s end
  • The coming of the Antichrist, and how to recognize him
  • The Judgment and where it may send us: heaven, hell, and purgatory
  • Biblical end-times prophecy: how to read it and not be deceived

Jesus commands us to be ever-watchful for his return, and ever-mindful that we have no lasting city on earth. The End of the Present World and the Mysteries of the Future Life is an invaluable aid to inculcating in your spirit that heavenly orientation, without which true human happiness cannot be found—in this world or the next.

Thanks! Looks interesting...

I recently discovered Rood, he's kinda like his name says alright, but also a brilliant Biblical scholar and historian. In fact, I find him fascinating...

Thank you for sharing Scripture and your wisdom. I feel to effectively evangelize for the next election, we must share the Word of the Lord without fear of persecution. And they will scream, hiss and recoil like snakes in a bonfire. The Word is Divine truth - eternal. Reading and meditating on it brings us into conjunction with the Lord. Sharing it with our thought/meditations brings us all into Communion. The dems have their machine - we have the Word and the love of God and the neighbor.

I love our weekly Bible study broadcast from my Church back east. It's like being washed in the Spirit - but it is not political or topical. I have an online ministry that is not part of my Church to avoid tax exempt problems for them - I am a member, not ordained.

Today, I've seen many posts regarding the election results and the Biblical ramifications. Christians of all stripes coming together on a common path to share Scripture and thoughts to defeat darkness and bring light and the Lord's Kingdom to earth - the New Jerusalem.

I believe this is how the Lord's Kingdom will come to earth - with all Christians putting aside differences of doctrine as matters of opinion, following the Two Great Commandments and working together against a common enemy - evil and falsity, self love and love of the world - things that are assigned to HELL in the spiritual world.

Let us be servants to each other as Christ taught. Let us look to His Word and share our collective wisdom to evangelize, save life, marriage and families as defined in His Word. Let us become involved at local and state government to establish Tea Party principals to take back our federal government. Amen

P.S. Hot Tabasco, you do NOT speak for me.

Dave,

I, too, have noticed how Christians of all denominations have come together after this election. Their postings are all very similar.

Is this what God was planning? Who knows, but I have an inkling!

A fantastic quote just sent to me — look at the election and our nation — and pro-life issues when you read this.

“Still, if you will not fight for the right when you can easily win without bloodshed; if you will not fight when your victory will be sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may even be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than live as slaves.”

-Winston Churchill.

I think you know I'm a member of the New Church and hold Swedenborg's Writings as you hold the Writings of your Saints. Anyway, he wrote:

“… In the Christian world it is doctrinal matters that distinguish churches; and from them men call themselves Roman Catholics, Lutherans, and Calvinists, or the Reformed and the Evangelical, and by other names [including Swedenborgians]. It is from what is doctrinal alone that they are so called; which would never be if they would make love to the Lord and charity toward the neighbor the principal of faith. Doctrinal matters would then be only varieties of opinion concerning the mysteries of faith, which truly Christian men would leave to everyone to hold in accordance with his conscience, and would say in their hearts that a man is truly a Christian when he lives as a Christian, that is, as the Lord teaches. Thus from all the differing churches there would be made one church; and all the dissensions that come forth from doctrine alone would vanish; yea, all hatreds of one against another would be dissipated in a moment, and the Lord's kingdom would come upon the earth.” (Emanuel Swedenborg, Heavenly Secrets 1799:4)

I saw a start to this happening last summer with Chick-Fil-A but it was a wave that subsided. Now it's happening again but I know this time we have to remain diligent in how we focus and perhaps use existing prayer threads to keep this going. Or just allow it to evolve organically as folks are moved to share. Just put the Kingdom first.

USNV you are so right, this is a spirtual attack. I don’t remember the author but he made a very good case that the USA has remained free is because of repeated revivals. He said there was a revival that united the people of the 13 colonies before the revolution despite their political and religious divisions, to the point that during the constitution convention, when they were deadlocked someone would call for a time of prayer and the issue would be resolved. We need revival, one that starts with believers hearts first......
