Excellent piece, Jeff. I see you as a very remarkable man and it will take such men to turn this battered ship into the wind and to get her through this storm.
Regrettably, I do not see a safe harbor ahead, nor calm seas on the horizon. Our ship is made of strong wood, but she is taking on water, has lost her steerage and the pounding seas remain merciless. Although things are not well and our ship is not fit...... she still floats. ;>)
When you spoke of those that came before us and GAVE THEIR ALL in battle after battle, war after war, I am reminded of a question that I often ask myself - “Am I living a life worthy of their sacrifice?”
It’s going to take me a bit to put myself back together, as I am in a very bad mood.... but in due time I will.
What our enemies fail to comprehend is that some of us, many of us, would sooner die fighting, than allow them to steal our Liberty and force our grandchildren to live a filthy Godless life of their design.
Those who seek to do harm to me or my loved ones - they should bring guns.
Push on, yes, we must push on - to do less is to surrender.
Amne, my friend, to every bit of that.
