McDonald's Corp. says a key sales figure fell in October, marking the first monthly drop in nearly a decade for the world's biggest hamburger chain.

The company, says global sales at restaurants open at least a year fell 1.8 percent for the month. The last time the figure dropped was in 2003. The figure is a key metric because it strips out the impact of newly opened and closed locations.

The fast-food chain says the figure fell 2.2 percent in both the U.S. and Europe. In the region encompassing Asia, the Middle East and Africa, it dropped 2.4 percent.

After year of outperforming its rivals, McDonald's has seen sales slow recently as the company faces intensifying competition and a persistently weak economy.

Have you been to McDonald's lately? 8 bucks for a hamburger and fries that were prepared by an inadequate teenager?

I haven’t been to a McDonald’s (in the USA) in probably 10 years or so. I never liked their food and always found their restuarants kind of scuzzy and dirty looking.

I did used to like their breakfast burrito many years ago.

I was in a McDonald’s in the UK about a year ago and it was amazingly nice. It was like a 1st class restuarant. Nice decor, spic and span clean, soft lighting, no garish colors, the signage was understated. I could not believe I was in a McDonald’s. And it was at a roadside stop too! All I had was a drink but I was tempted to try the food the place looked so great.

” Just maybe the fall-off at McD’s had something to do with all the people that have been heading to Chick-fil-A to support them?”

***

Could be, but in my case I stopped going to McD after an incident when I ordered grilled chicken on my salad and it came with fried chicken instead. The young chick behind the counter was so busy chatting with her co-worker, she had to ask 3 times whether I wanted grilled or crispy and still she got it wrong.

At CFA, the employees are courteous; they listen to their customers and they serve some decent food. Another thing: I walk with a cane. The employees even help me carry the food to the table. Try getting that courtesy at McDonalds.

The last time I ordered a Big Mac, I got a got a luke warm Midget Mac.

Yeah, who wants a "double burger" with two patties that together don't add up to a 1/4 pounder? I'll bet if you were to measure the area of the two patties, and add them together, they'd barely be the same as the area of the bottom of the bun they sit on.

Gotta be a value shopper. I get a sausage biscuit and small coffee w/creamer for breakfast on my way to work--$2.00. Salad with grilled chicken slice and ranch dressing for lunch--under five bucks(varies with the site.)I have no complaints, but on Mondays I always get lunch at Chick-fil-A because I'm in the neighborhood.

They better roll back the "calorie counts" they added to their menus. Some smart people sold off the stock the day they announced that.

I thought the Obamacare waivers were nullified when Roberts called Obamacare a “tax”. The Executive Branch doesn’t have the legal authority to give waivers on a legislative tax.
