Karl Rove claims President Obama won reelection by 'suppressing the vote'

The Republican super-strategist was feeling the heat after his shadowy political committees burned through $100 million on anti-Obama attack ads — to little effect.

Republican super-strategist Karl Rove tried to shift blame Thursday for his failed spending spree to defeat President Obama, claiming Obama won reelection by “suppressing the vote.”

Rove was feeling the heat after his shadowy political committees burned through $100 million on anti-Obama attack ads — to little effect.

Obama’s top strategist, David Axelrod, joined the piling on Thursday, chortling that if he were one of the Republican benefactors who bankrolled Rove, he’d be “asking where my refund is.”

[snip]

Rove was the brains behind several Super PACs — private groups that can spend unlimited money on political ads — that spent heavily to defeat Democrats, including more than $100 million on ads bashing Obama.

Appearing Thursday on Fox News, Rove insisted that Obama won because he “succeeded in suppressing the vote” with negative ads “that turned off” voters, keeping them from the polls.

Fox News host Megyn Kelly didn’t buy it, interrupting Rove by saying, “But he won, Karl, he won!”

As much as I agree with Palin on her values, she has no chance at POTUS and if she makes a try, she will lose. I just brought up the same issues you raised about the Romney campaign isolating Palin to some older friends on mine 60 - 65 years old men and they agreed with what Romney did to isolate her. If Palin starts to show signs of running for POTUS in 2016, the old white male vote will reject her. IMHO.

Obama won reelection the day that elitists like Rove decided that Romney was the GOP's best hope for victory. Unfortunately, Romney may have gotten enough votes to confirm for elitists like Rove the notion that the GOP does best when it nominates a liberal.

We can only pray that we don't do it again.

Well, I was already ‘suppressed’ via a GOP candidate that had a history of supporting gay-adoption, cap-and-trade, Romneycare, and a slew of slimeball political minions trashing and smearing Palin ever since 2008. Not to mention, having a convention that was so disdainful of the Tea Party, they didn’t even allow the words “tea party” be uttered.

5thGenTexan claims Karl Rove suppressed the vote by helping to foist a RINO on the conservative base once too many times.

5thGenTexan might be more valuable than all the multi-million dollar Bush-Rove-McRomney focus groupers, marketing consultants, and spin doctors put together.

I would say it was more like REDISTRIBUTING the vote—it was planned, it was massive. Millions of votes thrown out, “lost” in the mail, or re-directed or deleted by computers, then replaced with multi-votes, dead votes, illegals’ votes, etc.
Then add to that the disgusted, the uninterested, the lazy, the ignorant, the ones too busy being entertained, the drugged, whatever...who voted and who didn’t vote.

Bottom line: Our nation has turned away from God. What can we expect? What can we do about it? “Return to Me that I may return to you.” Zechariah 1:3

It is better to take refuge in the LORD than to trust in man or princes (rulers, leaders). Psalm 118:8-9

The fear of man brings a snare, but he who trusts in the LORD will be exalted. Many seek the ruler’s favor, but justice for man comes from the LORD. Proverbs 29:25-26

There is only one way that God has provided by which man can be saved and have a relationship with the living God, our Creator and Sustainer, and that is the Lord Jesus Christ. Acts 4:12: There is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men, by which we must be saved.”

As an individuals in a nation, this is our only Hope.

Megyn (is that really how her parents spelled it?) is a pretty stupid human being.

He won, “Me Again” BY suppressing the vote. Therefore, he did not “win” honestly and legitimately.

Check my other posts. I believe the election was stolen not by negative ads (the left always lies) but by digitally converting votes for Romney to Obammie the Commie.

No you lost because you ran another friggin Liberal Republican against a entrenched Big Government Marxist and got run over yet again. If the Republicans want to win national they need to dump the Rove Wing of the party that keeps pushing these moderate candidates on us Conservatives.

Fine Karl, but do something about it. Crying just make him look like Boehner.

Rove is way overrated. A second rate hack. He barely won the 2000 election and if it wasn’t for the swift boaters, would have lost the reelection in 2004 also. He also presided over the catastrophic loss in Congress in 2006 and the debacle we are still dealing with named Barry.

Karl Rove is correct. Obama won by shrinking the battlefield.

"We can only pray that we don't do it again."

Don't bet on it..the first thing that came out of their mouths yesterday, all day on Fox, is that the party was going to have to open up the tent, and yet when a candidate comes along that goes against the eastcoast elitist insufferable norm....they isolate them and marginalize them.

It appears that the "insiders" lie to themselves as much as they do to America.

Ever wonder why McCain “inexplicably” got millions more votes than Romney?

My guess is that Sarah Palin had absolutely nothing to do with that. extreme /s

I can’t quite say the ads criticizing Obama “didn’t work.” Obama got 9 million fewer votes than he got in 2008, and who knows, the ads may have contributed to that erosion. Obviously they didn’t work WELL ENOUGH, though.

As for Rove’s mention of “suppression”: It’s only true if by “suppression” you mean turning off 2 million McCain-in-2008 voters such that those voters didn’t even show up this time. But that’s just a normal part of politics, hoping to depress your opponents’ voter turnout (legally).

He is utterly--utterly--unable to perceive how to actually change people's opinions on issues.

As witnessed by the fact that Obama's totals from 2008 to 2012 dropped while Romney was unable to match McCain's totals in 2008. Those disaffected Obama voters largely didn't vote.

The GOP still has their head stuck in 2000 as to running an election. People get sick of phone calls and TV attack ads. You have to come up with new ways to reach potential voters, engage them and sway them to your side. Rove is a direct mail guy. And it shows.

Hopefully this will be the last election where anyone in the GOP takes Rove seriously.

AMEN. He needs to vanish from the scene! And stay vanished!

What you said is true. But Rove is right about Dem voter fraud. It is open, massive and aggressive now, thanks to Rove ignoring it for so many years while Bush pretended to be above all that “bickering”. The endless recounts until the Dem. candidate won happened over and over again. The false voter registrations, cities with more voters in elections than actually exist... It’s been going on for a long time. Rove totally surrendered to it.

I bet Rove does not do anything about it; just whine now that he has seen it operate openly without any care or legal boundries. Either the GoP enforces the laws on Dems or there is no rule of law. They have no honor nor loyality to anything but power.
