Louisiana Petitions to Leave Union

As the founding fathers of the United States of America made clear in the Declaration of Independence in 1776:

"When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation."

If they’re up against a state seceding, I’d not be surprised to see a state capitol blown away, just to crush morale.

Considering that the largest percentage populations of blacks are still in the deep south...that blue line through the South on the county map....the Federal Govt would take it on as a civil rights case to “protect” the minorities in the states. It would be portrayed as a return to the 50s, and half the population of the country would believe it.

I am of Wisconsin Norwegian descent. The early Norwegians were strongly Republican because they were opposed to slavery. It’s only the later generations that have become Democrat and certainly not all of them. The two Norwegian-descended politicians who became known on the national scene were Democrats however. I am referring to Humphrey and Mondale.

Not in Louisiana but I’m in. If my state does not join will move to a state that does.

what if we ask our state legislatures to be a clearing house for all fed taxes and then they can keep an amount sufficient to pay for all the unfunded federal mandates and send the rest on to DC?

I married into a Norwegian family. I can affirm your empiracles, and can further state that they are impervious to logic.

By the way, this is the same country overrun by the Nazi’s (i.e., they’ve seen how socialism ends up). This means, very much like the Jews, they are impervious to learning from either history or their mistakes.

Now, I’m Irish and Portuguese, so at this point, I have to put the bag of rocks down and by some new glass for the house I live in. My family in CA is all liberal. Everyone of them have government jobs, or retired from government jobs. My Norwegian family here - same thing, except one married a US Senator and then became a lobbyist, another became a tort lawyer.

My brother in law, is the only one in the family who actually works for a private company. He’s a beer and wine salesman. Hard worker, but he’s got huge issues, many of which stem from growing up in a house full of elitist liberals. My FIL is a teacher, then a union pres, then a professor. My MIL is a school nurse.

I don’t talk a whole lot at family functions. I love my wife, and I love my kids. I met her, frankly, during a time when almost nobody identified themselves with an ideology. The advice I have for my kids is that your ass tends to follow your head, so a person’s political ideology is likely more important than how good he or she is in the sack.

I don't necessarily support or advocate secession and I don't think it is realistic, but there are arguments for secession, particularly when one group rides roughshod over another.In reality a very small portion of the Country dictates to the rest of the Country. They may constitute more people, but for example, what really does a union guy in New England have in common with say a cattle rancher in Nebraska and why should he be able to demand that the rancher participate in 0bamacare? That's why the government was originally founded as sovereign states, but it has become a federal monolith run from DC, in violation of the Tenth Amendment. It doesn't work as well.

Parts of the state with high Norwegian ancestry tended to vote Democrat.

So, it's the Norwegians. And all along, I thought it was the Amish!

The same can be said of DC - and I don't think it's a stretch to believe that some states have the military capability to overtake federal defenses and take control of nukes sitting within their borders.

Besides, I don't think that nuking a state capital would have the effect that they might think it would have. For me, it would drastically increase my resolve. And, it would take out many of the very constituency that the left caters to - the freeloader population.

Yep, a nuke in the state capitols would clean out any remaining “bluesters”,

and the gov’t and control would further disperse to the localities, counties, cities, townships, etc,

where it belongs.
