Did mishandling of the military ballots cost Romney the election?

Duffleblog says that the tardy delivery of the ballots caused them to be returned too late to be counted but these hundreds of thousands of ballots seem preliminarily to have been enough to hand Romney the election.

Sources confirmed today that hundreds of thousands of military absentee ballots were delivered hours after the deadline for them to be counted, with preliminary counts showing that they would have overturned the vote in several states and brought a victory for Governor Mitt Romney.

Officials say the ballots were delivered late due to problems within the military mail system. Tracking invoices show the ballots sat in a warehouse for a month, then they were accidentally labeled as ammunition and shipped to Afghanistan. At Camp Dwyer, Marine Sergeant John Davis signed for them and was surprised at the contents. (snip)

Twelve boxes of ballots were dropped overboard during delivery to the USS Kearsarge (LHD-3) in the Persian Gulf, then while the ship sailed to Bahrain, postal clerks allegedly pocketed whatever ballots they wanted.

The remaining absentee ballots were loaded onto a C-130, but the flight was delayed until November 1st so the crew could get tax free pay for the month.  Once the ballots arrived stateside they were promptly mailed to each state's counting facility, reaching their final destination on November 7th.

Duffelblog is a satire site like The Onion.

The fact that keeps making rounds on serious conservative websites must have the leftists hysterical.

I don’t think voter fraud is funny myself.

I have little doubt that there was plenty of cheating. Looking at the count from the 2008 and 2012 election, I find it hard to believe there were less Repub votes. I believe Repub early votes were thron out.

Fix it....make it so whan an early mail in vote AND early voting is received, there is no notice of party designation. We shouldn't know any number before the designated voting day.

I was going to say “show me the numbers.” But I see now that it was a spoof site — probably left leaning.

I hate the way people post fake news sites here as if they were real.

It would be better IMHO if the Blogger/Personal category were not in the default feed.

Actually, does anyone know how to configure my account to only see selected categories in my feed (without selecting them for viewing one-by-one; yes I know how to do that.)

LOL! The author should take a look at the About section on the website she uses as a news source.

Possibly VERY Important.

That is why Mitt Romney-theWEAK spoke up about
this day after day, as it was ongoing,
just as he brought up Benghazi, day after day. [/s]

Boxes “accidentally thrown overboard” of the Kearsarge...

Boxes “accidently labeled ‘ammunition’” and sent to Afghanistan

“Problems with the military mail system”...

Now... imagine if the ballots in the inner-city precincts had been so shoddily handled.... the screaming for heads would be deafening.

Amerika likes to give lip service to “supporting the troops.” When they were.. once again.. disenfranchised on Tuesday, all we heard were crickets. “Supporting the troops” my ass.

It did not cost Romney the election, as there were only about 400,000 votes available from those over seas.

However, it may have cost a couple of seats in Congress.

The only thing more pathetic than bad satire are those taken in by it.

Why do you have this tagged as “satire?” Is it somehow seen as humorous?

Look again at the vote totals after Thanksgiving. The missing GOP votes will be there. Masking the party will not help with military votes, if there is cheating with them.

I’m not speculationg anymore. Until and unless someone can PROVE massive voter fraud/manipulation than a lot good it does.
Even then nothing in the last four years has stuck. This admin has not been accountable for anything. Besides, what makes anyone thing proving massive voter fraud will stick?
The past history suggest we are powerless to do anything?
On Republican side..they have not been sucessful at stopping proving anything or bringing up charges but nothing has changed there either.
The same inaffectual people are still TALKING tough. The same ones who talked tough all along?
They are either complete IDIOTS are they are in on it..???
FOUR YEARS and what do we have to show for anything?
Blah!

McCain, 2008 popular vote: 58,319,442

Romney, 2012 popular vote: 58,163,978

4 years of population growth and Romney didn’t draw what McCain did......

If I were the Koch brothers or someone with $ and the means, I would charter a plane, deliver ballots to the military, WAIT while they voted, fly them back to the US, oversee them being counted.

It is reprehensible the way the military vote is ko’d, every single election.
