New York Sen. Chuck Schumer said Friday he was optimistic that Congress will reach a compromise on the fiscal cliff and added that he believes House Speaker John Boehner is indicating he’s open to a deal. “The House wants to — Boehner [a Republican] wants to compromise. You know, Boehner’s not a hard-right guy, but he’s a mainstream conservative,” Schumer, a Democrat, said on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” show.

He said that the 2010 elections resulting in a Republican House majority, together with Tuesday’s election boosting the Senate Democratic Senate majority illustrate how a compromise is reached.

Schumer seems to have forgotten that it's The House of Representatives that represent the will of the people in each of their districts and since there is a majority GOP in The House, that means more districts don't want a "compromise". If taxes go up for the "wealthy" then they should go up for everyone! The GOP needs not do a thing and the natural course will be ALL Bush Tax Cuts will expire, just what the Rats have asked for.

Wow that Schmuckie Schumer sure is a brilliant guy, isn’t he?

Imagine being able to see the lay of the land so well.

It’s like predicting mobile homes will be damaged by the coming tornado.

But it will not avoid the fiscal cliff. It just builds the bridge to nowhere a little farther out beyond the edge of the cliff so that when we fall off the end of the tracks, we fall into the deepest part of the chasm.

Chuck Schumer optimistic about ‘cliff’ deal (Schumer predicts a Boehner cave)

Boehner caving is about as dramatic a prediction as stating the sun will rise from the east.

You know, Boehner’s not a hard-right guy, but he’s a mainstream conservative

If Schumer is referring to Boehner as mainstream, you KNOW we have a problem.

The Republican "brand" is tainted to the point of being irreparably defaced. Sorta like that priceless Italian painting that some know-nothing woman was hired to restore and instead turned it into some 5th grader's interpretation of a person's face.

We need to regroup as a party of values and Constitutional adherence, or we're truly dead as a nation.

I would suggest everyone call ALL the GOP respresatatives and tell them that if they “compromise” any little millimeter on this issue then we will run candidates against them in 2 years and definitely make the GOP the Whigs.

The House MUST elect a new SPEAKER. Bachmann, Paul, or West (if he survives).

Schumer’s real goal is to stick a knife deep in the back of Dingy Harry. He wants Reid’s job soooooo bad, but the old fart keeps holding on.

I just want the GOP to take control of the Senate in 2014.

Obama is now a lame duck—I want us to slow his communist ass down as much as possible.

Obama may have won re-election, but his Political Capital is diminished—he won with fewer votes than in 2008, and his popularity is NOWHERE NEAR WHAT IT WAS after he first seized power.

So we need to say tough titties, BO. Your turn to flail in the wind, just like your party did to George Dubya Bush after he won re-election in 2004.

Exactly! Bring it on. Let the people see the results of their vote. Obama has played his last “blame” card.

If Schumer is referring to Boehner as mainstream, you KNOW we have a problem.

The only problem is believing ANYTHING Schumer says.

Which includes comments about Boehner designed solely to anger conservatives which seem to work every time (as evidenced on this thread).

You think the Weeper of the House and McConnell will do ANYTHING to slow down the train? It’s a pipe dream to even mention reversing!

I say full speed ahead, give the public what it wanted; freebies for everyone.

And when the SHTF, shortly thereafter, I can do some plinking from the water tower or roof of the house.
