Many of my doctor clients are Cigna providers and one of my fav insurance carriers to work with. Their call centers are open 24/7, although many are located outside the U.S. They also ignore a lot of the more ridiculous portions of the HIPAA related mandates. They did pick up business from Great West but all of our patients covered by their ex-pat program have been transferred to United Healthcare. I think down the road carriers like Cigna and Aetna are going to have trouble competing with United Healthcare.

State of Texas employee coverage recently transferred from Blue Cross to United Healthcare. Of course AARP is part of UHC. Don’t see anything positive coming out of this for anyone.

Ford has told us we will be switching to BC/BS after two years with Cigna.
