Marco Rubio Heads to Iowa. 2016 Starting Already?
ABC News ^ | Nov 8, 2012 1:45pm | By Shushannah Walshe

Florida Senator Marco Rubio is heading to the first caucus state of Iowa on Nov. 17 to headline an annual campaign fundraising birthday party for Iowa governor Terry Branstad.

Last year all the presidential hopefuls, except for Mitt Romney, came to the party to court the governor and Iowa political dignitaries who attended the bash.

The governor’s spokesperson, Tim Albrecht, a caucus expert himself, told ABC News that Branstad invited Rubio and is “excited he accepted.”

“Sen. Rubio is a star within our party,” Albrecht said. “We were excited Sen. Rubio accepted, and regardless of what happened on Tuesday he was going to come, and it guarantees a successful fundraiser.”

And as for the assumption that this means Rubio is a sure thing for a 2016 presidential bid? Albrecht said the speculation is one of the bonuses of living in the Hawkeye state and he knows Rubio will be a “major draw.”

“I’m sure people will speculate regardless, and if Gov. Romney had won people would speculate about 2020,” Albrecht said. “When you live in Iowa you’re under a microscope.”

Of course the speculation can’t hurt Rubio, or Iowa’s hopes for remaining the first state where voters get to pick a president. Albrecht said they were of course “hoping the (caucus process) would start 6 years from now.”

“But, we expect Iowa to be first once again and Gov. Branstad welcomes any candidates that might be looking ahead to the Iowa caucuses,” Albrecht said.

Assuming there are 30 million illegals in America, that's enough to create some 50 congressional districts and they don't even need to vote to do it. If they do vote, you can pretty much count on those districts being almost exclusively democrat. As it is we don't know how many districts exist almost wholly due to the presence of illegals.

The costs of administering a single district must run into the millions. How much pork can a district seek? How many earmarks? What will all those new democrat congressmen vote for?

If you think Obamacare is bad, you haven't seen squat. Wait till the day all those democrats start dictating how many cars a family can have, what job you can have, or where you can live. Wait till they dictate that all paychecks come from government and you get a small cut of what is left over.

Illegals are nothing but government growth hormone and amnesty today is nothing short of treason.

Everybody relax gees. Iowa’s caucus isn’t for another thirty eight months. So much is going to happen between now and then.

Right now, I’d take a Marco Rubio in the WH over this POS we now have. I’m not sure he wants amnesty for all illegals. I’ll have to do more research on this. However, if the Cubans who vote Republican - are allowed to become citizens then I say replace the slackers of Americans who vote for the marxist-in-chief. They have more sense having lived under a communist regime.

I like Rubio and am not sure about all of his stances, but he’d be a sure positive over what we now have.

What does what he looks like have to do with anything? I won’t even comment what zero looks like. JFK had no experience either -he was a Senator and got elected. What experience did obama have?

Your argument is lame.

Well if the only goal is to win, he might be an ok choice, but I am concerned about his competance. He is a minority that can give a speech... sound familiar? He has plenty of time to change my mind, but you have to do more than be pretty and speak to get my vote. He wouldn’t get mine for president right now. I would like to see him run for governor, however, and see what he can do.

My concern is that too many conservatives have bought into Rubio because he sounds great making speeches and he looks good. Plus, now with the concern of getting Hispanic voters in the next election, many conservatives want identity politics just like the dems.

One just has to peel away the veil of Marco Rubio to revealed who is backing him and what he actually believes beyond the beautiful conservative rhetoric he sprouts. Rubio is probably a nice guy and a good family man but he is a con for the Establishment, who knows that many conservatives in the Republican Party won’t vote or support another Establishment candidate outright ever again

I said all along that Romney should have picked Rubio for his VP. I know Ryan is an amazing individual and politically I am very similar to him. Ryan would have been an excellent VP and Presidential contender.

However, Rubio tells a good story and is very eloquent. He is very intelligent.

I may not get a chance to vote for Rubio though. If the Republican party swings to left to become Dem light, I am leaving the Party....with no hesitation whatsoever.

A one Party system is communism. One could argue that the two Party system we have now is not much better. We shall see...

Senators do NOT make good presidents.

We already have a trainee on the job and we see what a lousy mess he has made of things.

If/when Rubio gets some executive exerience, then he might be worth considering.

Until then, no more OJT's for the presidency.

The guy has no experience. Plus he looks like some SOB that defrauded our company about $600k.

He was the head of the Florida Senate, he has been a United States Senator for a few years. He has as much experience as Barack Obama had. As for the second part of your statement --- no he doesn't.

Now to the meat --- he is Hispanic; and, from what I can tell listening to all of the pundits and talking heads; the Republican Party needs that.

I like him, mostly because he speaks well and can articulate Conservative values so that people can understand them.

Exactly right. Rubio is already using Romney's loss as reason to support amnesty. He's no conservative and he's no uniter. Instead of continuing to pander to races and divide America even further, we should be trying to unite as Americans. First and foremost, we need to convert independents to the conservative cause.

There won’t be any elections in 2016. America will be a third world hell hole ruled by a dictator by then.

” As for the second part of your statement -— no he doesn’t.”

Actually he does. He looks exactly like him. I’m not saying he looks like a stereotypical scam artist, I am saying he looks exactly like an actual scam artist that took me personally for a ride. It is going to be very difficult to get past that if he ever finds his way on my ballot.
