Bloomberg News is reporting that UN Ambassador Susan Rice is the favorite to replace Secretary of State Hillary Clinton when she steps down as expected sometime in January.
Six current or former White House officials, who all spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss internal deliberations, said Rice remains close to President Barack Obama and shares many of his views on foreign policy. They emphasized that the president hasn't made a final decision, and Clinton may remain in her post for some months into Obama's second term.
Former White House Chief of Staff Bill Daley and other officials said Obama's first move will be choosing a successor to Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner. He also may need to find successors to Defense Secretary Leon Panetta, Director of National Intelligence James Clapper and U.S. Trade Representative Ron Kirk, the officials said.
Rice is thought to be the president's preferred choice over two other strong candidates, Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman John Kerry of Massachusetts and National Security Adviser Tom Donilon, according to the current and former administration officials.
Rice, who also worked on the presidential campaigns of Kerry and former Massachusetts Governor Michael Dukakis, is known for her strong personality and passionate defense of Obama's foreign policy at Security Council and inter-agency meetings.

Great minds and all....I have been thinking that Obama most closely resembles Elagabalus. An effeminate prince from the East who rises to the crown almost by mistake and hardly of his own accord. Completely incompetent and an utter affront to the Roman legions....
Maybe it would. Is John Kerry on the record anywhere spouting that absurd video story? if he was not, then maybe he fed her the video story to make her look stupid so he could be Sec of State.

I can understand wanting the chickens to come home to roost on the economic level (spending, debt, unemployment, hyperinflation) sooner rather than later, so we can get the pain over with and maybe rebuild while there are a still lot of people who remember how America's economy should work.
But I can't support anything that will lead to even MORE of our soldiers dying, and maybe Israel being nuked. Not to mention more Islamic terrorist attacks on U.S. soil. (Which will be labeled “workplace violence” “lone wolf attacks by disturbed individuals” or “protests against insults to The Religion of Peace.”) Susan Rice as SOS will embolden our enemies more than almost any other choice. Unless Barack decides to really double-down and nominate Huma Abedin.
Hmmm...maybe I shouldn't have said that publicly. I don't want to give Obama any ideas!

If Obama appointed Condolezza Rice, then we might at least set the Russians straight.
