ELCA presiding bishop shares a post-election message 12-69-MRC

CHICAGO (ELCA) - With the 2012 elections coming to a close in the United States, the Rev. Mark S. Hanson, presiding bishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), offers a post-election pastoral message on video at http://bit.ly/WwGcVT.

“Whether you are rejoicing or lamenting the outcome of the elections, or maybe you are just relieved that campaigning is over, we need to ask, 'now what?'” said Hanson.

Hanson has served as ELCA presiding bishop since 2001. He was elected to a second six-year term in 2007. From 2003 to 2010, he served as president of The Lutheran World Federation, a global communion of 143 member churches in 79 countries all over the world. The ELCA is the federation's only member church from the United States.

Known as the church of “God's work. Our hands,” the ELCA emphasizes the saving grace of God through faith in Jesus Christ, unity among Christians and service in the world. The ELCA's roots are in the writings of the German church reformer, Martin Luther.

ELCA Presiding Bishop Hanson waited over a week to issue a statement on the violence that began against the Copts on Christmas Day and a similar interval before commenting on the attacks in Libya.

Why THIS haste, Bishop?

Bingo! The ELCA has been subverted. They no longer stand for anything Christian.

I saw this a couple of days ago on FB. What did he say? Blah, blah, blah. He said nothing of substance but surely sounded nice. Typical Democrat.

It is apparent that PBp Hanson has some serious First Commandment issues.

Bishp Kumbaya Hanson is a liberal airhead.

What now, Bishop?

23 million unemployed become 46 million unemployed, extrapolating from Obama’s past 4 years.

A suffocating 16 trillion dollar debt becomes a 26 trillion dollar debt.

China will own us and become our employer. They will be sending missionaries to the U.S.!

ELCA will go broke because no one will have any money left over after taxes to give to the church.

Bishop Hanson will join Joe Blow from Kokomo on the unemployment line.

The man is a bloomin’ idjit!

Apostasy Central continues, very predictably, to hemorrhage members. David Barnhart writes:

An official report by the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) revealed that the denomination suffered a net loss of 370 congregations in 2011, along with a loss of 213,000 members. ELCA membership at the end of 2011 stood at 4,059,785, down from 4,272,688 at the end of 2010 [and down from 5,288,047 in 1987].

The ELCA voted in August 2009 to annul parts of the Bible that reproached it over one of its favorite sins. ELCA losses 2009-2011:

574,199 members

758 congregations

The prophet Joel says that Almighty God takes no pleasure in the death of the wicked, and I take no pleasure in watching the demise of ELCA institutions.

For example, it has just been announced that in my former Synod one of the ordained Assistants to the Bishop has been terminated for financial reasons. The termination took effect November 1--yes, the situation is that dire.

I think two issues are in play: the Almighty in his kindness and forbearance is always trying to turn sinners to repentance, but He is also leading His children out of ELCA-Babylon, which is a spiritually toxic denominational dwelling place.
