Ron Paul: Election shows U.S. 'far gone'
Washington Times ^

Posted on 11/08/2012 1:30:19 PM PST by TigerClaws

Rep. Ron Paul, whose maverick presidential bids shook the GOP, said in the wake of this week's elections that the country has already veered over the fiscal cliff and he sees no chance of righting ship in a country where too many people are dependent on government. "We're so far gone. We're over the cliff," the Texas Republican told Bloomberg Television's "In the Loop" program. "We cannot get enough people in Congress in the next 5-10 years who will do wise things." The video can be seen at http://www.bloomberg.com/video/ron-paul-on-fiscal-cliff-and-vows-to-compromise-MYkAiqYBTaiHwXZL9Tvxkw.html.

Weren’t those optimistic, heady days of the Reagan Administration great? America believed in itself as the preeminent nation on earth, brimming with opportunity and hope.

Damn, how we’ve fallen.

We are now in ‘delusional-quicksand’... the “47%” now out-number the ‘rational’ ones. The airplane has been taken over by socialist-numb-inducing kamakazees.

To have a future, this country needs to separate into two entities. I simply can’t see it surviving as a dysfunctional 50-state entity.

With the what-have-you-done-for-me-lately attitude prevalent among voters and the media more in lockstep with Big Government than ever Reagan couldn't win today.

The entire system's gotta come down before any real reform can happen. It is the only way.

And come down it will, of its own weight.

I cannot believe I agree with Ron Paul! It is a different and sadder country today. Obama et al have had two years already and have been working hard destroying our medical system. In four years it will be lost. America voted for ‘free’ healthcare and will get the most expensive and least effective medicine now. More's the pity.

He’s right. You listen to the conservative talk radio and TV shows and read the conservative blogs and a lot of them are melodramatic about the cliff. We went over it at some point during the Bush Administration. Too many people on the public teat and a tax system too weighted toward making the “rich” pay and having the bottom half pay nothing. Why the Hell wouldn’t they continue to vote themselves benefits and expect them paid for by tax increases on higher income people? Why wouldn’t they vote for Santa Claus? Spending is a moral issue. People used to believe that they should support themselves. When Welfare started in the 60s, there was shame associated with taking it, even among blacks. Now its just another government check to get.

I have to agree with the wacky Dr. Paul on this one.

It’s over, folks.

I'm pretty sure this nation will split, soon, more than two pieces.

Got ammo?

I be dern! “Can’t” never could do anything! - Ron Paul participated in the “entitlement” game for years, or else he wouldn’t have kept being re-elected by his constituents. Let’s see; run mouth or do something? Which will it be? - Running mouth will keep the attention coming.

The era of big nations is over.

We’ll split into six, and the lawyers will streeeeeetch the process out since we all own so much in common.

Wrong Paul is right this time.

You know what? I actually miss the Clinton years. That was the most conservative period in America I was around. Boy, what life was like before the Bush/Obama deficits, the DHS, the TSA, and Obamacare...

In the Clinton era there was lively debate over the irrelevance of Presidential character and whether lying was good.

Eight years later, Obama’s character and truthfulness were rarely questioned outside of conservative forums.

Today, only the hopelessly gullible believe anything from our government.

Clinton defined deviancy down and we feel the effects to this day. Not conservative.

Far gone? More like just plain old “gone.” Period. It is time to organize the orderly dissolution so both sides may go on in relative peace. We are simply not of the same nation anymore, and that fact is made painfully obvious by the 50-50 split on almost every issue of consequence. Let the divorce proceedings begin, because the cohesive nation known as the United States of America has ceased to exist as anything other than a remnant legal structure. I want to be in fellowship with my own people, who share share my values...Americans, and leave Looter Nation to its own devices. Czechoslovakia proved it can be done without bloodshed. Yugoslavia, well....
