Nextel to cut 20% of jobs at Virginia headquarters

Wednesday 7 November 2012 | 11:09 CET | News

NII Holdings, which operates mobile services under the Nextel brand in Latin America, announced that it is taking actions to realign certain resources and roles between its headquarters and market units in order to create a stronger and more agile organization, and to facilitate future growth. As part of this strategy, the company is reassigning select positions located at its headquarters to its operations in Latin America and eliminating certain positions at its corporate headquarters in Virginia (US). In total, the company will reduce its workforce at its headquarters by 20 percent. These actions are designed to increase NII's operational agility, to streamline decision-making, and to begin reducing corporate headquarters costs. The company expects to incur one-time costs in the fourth quarter of approximately USD 8 million related to the headcount reduction.

It is going to get difficult to keep up with all the “change”.

Unfortunately in all of this, some good people, particularly those who voted against Obama twice, are going to lose their job or see a reduction in the income they earn as hours are reduced and salaries are frozen. Not much joy in that.

So many companies shedding jobs this week. UE will climb back up in the 8 range, and apologists will somehow blame Romney, or Bush, or even Reagan (As some bloggers have been doing lately) But the economy is not getting better. The people lied to themselves when they voted for Obama. Outright lied to themselves

Wait until O Care comes in, and job hours are cut back to fall under requirements, or workers are shed to match costs, or worse yet they are
told “ due to costs of O Care” we can no longer offer our plan. If you want
insurance you will need to buy from the X Change..........

I know. There were a few threads earlier on companies that were laying off people, now this one. And, as I clicked on this one I noticed a new thread a bit below this one with another company looking at lay offs.

Yup, elections have consequences.

With the current wave of job losses now proceeding and with the ones to come, I’m glad I didn’t quit my current job to seek a higher paying in a field that will most likely now be done away with thanks to Obama and current generation of “gimme” bums that voted him back into office.

The DAY AFTER the election “mainstream news” is reporting the coming tax hikes; journalistic malpractice at its best. I don’t even feel like conservatives lost an election; I feel like there was no election at all. The mainstream media must be smashed...
