With respect, their survival was on the backs of small business owners like my grandfather, whose taxes supported "that idiot roosevelt's" enormous array of make-work projects.

FDR's great depression, like 0bama's ongoing and deepening recession, was caused by and exacerbated by deliberate government policy of economic meddling and social engineering.
