This is emblematic of the challenge: Obama Overwhelmingly Won Asian-American Vote
National Journal ^ | November 8, 2012 | Shane Goldmacher

President Obama carried 73 percent of the Asian vote on Tuesday, continuing a two-decade-long march of Asian-Americans toward the Democratic Party in presidential politics.

Obama improved his performance among Asian-Americans more than among any other ethnic group between 2008 and 2012, according to exit polling. His support in the community jumped 11 percentage points, from 62 percent in 2008.

The 73 percent support that Obama garnered was the highest since national exit polls began tallying the Asian vote, and it marked the fifth straight presidential election in which the Democratic nominee attracted a greater share of the Asian-American vote.

President Clinton won only 31 percent of the Asian-American vote in 1992. His vice president, Al Gore, was the first Democrat to capture a majority of the community, with 54 percent support when Gore ran for president in 2000...

continuing a two-decade-long march

That should hurt. Possibly an unfortunate metaphor to their communist experience.

Only thing I can add is that CA contributes the bulk of Asian voters, and they are happy with the status quo. Successful in a state with a good economy for them.

Why would they want change?

Indeed. If moderate/liberal/establishment Republicanism is the answer, then both Mitt Romney and Scott Brown should’ve won their races in landslides.

My wife(Asian) does not believe the lies, but I find her buddies believe all the nonsense. I am surprised actually. They are very smart but somehow are too busy to hear anything but the MSM tale.

You are so right. I cannot tell you how many times people have been so surprised that I am a Republican. I do not fit the mold...not a bigot..not a redneck..I am a woman...etc. That stereotype is killing us.

I’ll believe that the “evangelicals” are the cause of lost elections when the Democrats stop pursuing them.

After the loss in 2004, they formulated an announced strategy to “close the god gap”.

Some of this is achieved by casting their arguments in religious terms (charitable giving and socialism are essentially the same thing in their view). It is also achieved by convincing some religious conservatives to stay home (in 2006 it was the outing of two homosexuals in the GOP and in 2012 it was achieved by pointing out in hushed tones that Romney is a “m-o-r-m-o-n”).

Immigrants built this country.

Now, they are destroying it.

“Asian”, “Hispanic” and other ethnic block descriptions are inaccurate at best. Former Chinese are NOT like former Filipnos are NOT like former Vietnamese etc, etc, etc . . .
Former Dominicans are NOT like former Mexicans are NOT like former Peruvians etc, etc, etc . . .

Lots of Asians formerly of the Philippines are devoted Americans who are DISGUSTED with those Obama-bots destroying the country.
Those new Americans formerly of China who own small businesses are FURIOUS with those in their neighborhoods who voted for The Won.

Leeches who live off the government voted for more goodies, it’s really that simple.

Remember the movie Independence Day?

The aliens traveled from planet to planet, consuming everything available and then moving on to the next planet.

The indigenous population was just in the way.

Illegal immigrants have found they want to come here and consume everything possible that is given to them by liberals. Once they are finished, they will move to the next country (maybe Canada) and start the process over.

This is already happening in Europe from open, illegal immigration.

You can already see the beginnings of what happens when you get in their way......extermination.

Stop insulting them. Stop lumping them in to the same category. Same with hispanics. Yesterday someone said here that if we run Rubio in 2016 we will get the hispanic vote. That person has no idea what he is talking about. Hispanics do not vote for a candidate because they are hispanic. They vote for the person they think is best for this country. I worked for Henry Bonilla for years. His district was huge. From where I live, NW Bexar County, to El Paso. He never, ever got the hispanic vote. It is insulting to say they vote for a hispanic name. They do not. No more than we vote for anglo saxons because they are anglo saxons.

I agree. The problem is south of us and it will not go away as long as we serve as a relief valve. If we would clamp down then let the Mexicans turn their energy inward and improve what they have. They are not without resources.

It’s a challenge. I’m very active in the Filipino community in the Bay Area. Around here, most are Democrats but nationally perhaps slightly more are Republicans.

One book that needs to receive more attention is “The Chinese in America” by the late Amy Chang. It’s a fascinating history of Chinese immigration to the US and their experiences. What was shocking to me was the terrible abuses and discrimination they experienced from 1850-1950 or so. While it’s not as bad as slavery, it was awful. The thing that struck me is they experienced all of this yet they are now more likely to be better educated and wealthier than white Americans. This blows a hole through the Democrat beliefs that blacks and Hispanics (I’m Hispanic myself) are victims of past racism and that’s why they need special programs and affirmative action. If that’s true, why are the Chinese prospering here? No group appreciates free enterprise as much as the Chinese. We should start there.

Unfortunately, we have created an Asian identity thru the use of affirmative action and minority business set asides. Despite their wealth and education, we have treated them like a disadvantaged minority.

The Republicans need to expose the Democrats as the real racists and bigots who provide people, including newly arrived immigrants, with special rights and privileges based on race, ethnicity, and gender.

What do Japanese, Chinese, Indians, and Filipinos have in common except being from the same geographic region of the globe? And is there a one drop rule that classifies one as Asian?

We need to push for the elimination of affirmative action and minority business set asides. By 2019 half of the children 18 and under will be minorities as classified by the USG and by 2042 half of the country will be minorities.

The Marxist media and schools use Skinner psychology to condition and brainwash everyone.

The associations used in tons of books and media is that Republicans are evil and mean and Democrats are good and charitable. No human beings wants to be perceived as “mean”. Emotions rule-—not intellect. Marxism is about destroying the intellect and ruling by urges—so they can easily manipulate you.

Marxists (democrats) control the outlets of information. Republicans don’t. The Alinsky method works-—they control the narrative-—they control the meaning of words—they control ALL perceptions.

Republicans on occasion break through the Matrix-—like with the words-—Pro-Life-—but that is one of the few areas where they have been able to change perceptions. Control the Language and meaning of words——that is the trick of the Marxists.

Look how they have destroyed the meaning of language over the last 100 years-—”liberaL” for instance-—Right and Left-——everything they do is to destroy knowledge and truth and family cohesiveness and unity. No one can debate “ideas” anymore-—there is no unity on definition of words. Their understanding of concepts is all over the map. Each individual has their own definition of Good and Evil not based on the Bible anymore.

Label and divide. Create hate. Sodomy—is “good”????? Think about it-—it is like saying Snow is Black-—and that is the Wundt psychology-—by controlling ideas, Marxists WILL be able to control YOUR worldview. They CAN make people actually believe that sodomizing others is “Good” and God-Given Right”. How sick is that?????? But they have been successful in entire states to corrupt and destroy logic in the masses.

We need to unify with Love and Knowledge of Truth (God).

I have found much to like and admire in the Chinese people I’ve known. Very hard-working, very family oriented, great respect for education. A lot of values that Conservatives can all embrace.

Of course the lumping of Asians, despite the vast array of racial types in Asia, as a single group, is beyond just silly.

The first step in dealing with the "challenge" is to show respect for the differences between peoples--to respect people for who they are, both as individuals & and as representatives of distinct groups.

Nothing is more pernicious than the way the Left has succeeded in lumping or aggregating diverse peoples into single categories. In Leftwing foreign policy adventures--example Dean Rusk in Africa--this has resulted in instances of genocide. It is, if nothing else, totally disrespectful of the sort of pride that does not go before a fall; rather tends to keep people from falling, because they want to measure up to those who went before, and set standards for proper behavior.

No, I repudiate the Left's pursuit of a "Let's all pretend" that quite unique peoples are all interchangeable.

See Putting "Diversity" Into Context.
