GOP to be blamed for plunging off 'fiscal cliff'
WND ^ | 11/7/2012 | Joe Kovacs

If Republicans don’t go along with calls by President Obama for higher taxes and the nation goes off a “fiscal cliff,” then the GOP is to blame, says a Democratic congressman.

<SNIP>

Conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh said Wednesday it’s actually Democrat policies of massive borrowing and spending that’s pushing the nation over the edge.

“We are going over a financial cliff. Everybody in the Obama camp knows we are going over the financial cliff whether we raise taxes on the rich or not,” Limbaugh explained. “Raising taxes, confiscating the wealthy’s money would not save us. There isn’t the money. But this is how this works now. This is how they do it. … It’s not Obama, you see, whose policies are going to take us over the financial cliff. It’s these Republican creeps that won’t go along with tax increases.”

But will Republicans draw a line in the sand, or will they go along with tax hikes?

Hell with it. This is what the voters wanted... give Obama the tax hike he wants, then publicly hang it around his neck every single day.

The GOP should know by now that they will never win with the mainstream media. Every is issue with them is Heads, they win; Tails we lose.

In my view Obama did get his mandate for higher taxes - I say let the Bush tax rates lapse for ALL income brackets in exchange for some spending cuts - or even sequestration.

Political point is to ensure that ALL Americans have skin in the game - call it “fairness” and “paying their fair share.”

The trick is how to pull this off while protecting the GOP House in 2014, because we must keep the House in 2015-2016.

Cut what appears to be an “OK” deal to conservatives but mostly gives the RATS what they want: a tax increase for everyone (these may be mutually exclusive). A recession will soon follow that will benefit GOP prospects in 2014.

And our GOP governors will probably raise Hell, but you get the point.

"I’m tired of these games. America wants Obama’s super-charged Welfare State? Fine. Let the “Bush” tax cuts expire — ALL of them, including the middle and lower class tax cuts. Force America to choose — do you want low spending or high spending with the taxes that go with it? Because we are at the point where taxes on the “rich” aren’t going to even come close to paying for our current level of spending. Does America want a big middle class tax hike or does it want to cut spending. That’s what Republicans should put on the table. Quit playing Obama’s game that this is just about a tax hike on the “rich.”

I'm thinking more like this too. If we just let it go over the cliff, then it will hurt, but it will hurt the rat bastards too, the one's who still pay taxes anyway. They are do what they do because they never think it will affect them...let it affect them and see how they like it. How would that be for a great big f-u?

I Ayn Rand captured the last days of America pretty well in “Atlas Shrugged.” Pretty much the Great Depression, but 3 times worse.

Billboards advertising MSM as anti-American; a villain, a monster behind our enemies; the BB’s should be springing up across the nation.....radio and TV ads the same.....You can’t trust the MSM, Harry Reid, Obama, or any of the anti-US Constitutional left and until our nation is re-educated/we fight back the progressives will continue to trash the Constitution, religion and rights.

THAT is exactly what will happen!

Remember how George Bush Sr. was blamed for raising taxes.
Yes, he did it ALL BY HIMSELF! Congress was blameless!

Screw it. GOP will get blamed by the MSM no matter what they do. Time to burn it to the ground. Burn baby burn!

Exactly! Are people absolutely brain dead? It DOES NOT MATTER what we do, the corrupt MSM will ensure that the Democrats get to pin the blame on us!

Give Obama everything he constitutionally asks for and let the place burn to the ground!

I’m completely comfortable with it. I’m not going to lend any help to the decline, but I’ll ambivalently watch as it happens. When it’s dead and rotting, like a carrion bird I’ll swoop in to take up the better parts and work with others to make the best of the bad situation.

The number of dead, homeless, and poor will be astounding and will likely consist of inner-city liberals who voted for it. Look what’s happening in NYC! I won’t help them, I won’t give them a hand with anything.

Elections have consequences, you POS.

Hey, I'm in. I can spare about $10 Towards a billboard. If 20,000 Freepers give $10, that's a lot of dough towards some billboards educating the masses about the slimey MSM press!

I say Boehner should give Obama everything he wants. Let him and the entire Democrat party own the coming crash

The problem with that (as we've found out in one party California) is that they'll just keep raising taxes as they believe that recovery is just one tax raise away...(only to dig us into a deeper hole as they spend that money)

You got it. LOL

I almost think we should do the second, but if I did, I would require that we do it on National TV in prime time so that I can say “we are giving Obama and the democrats what he has asked for, we think it is a terrible mistake.

We will let you decide after it is done. But...we will not allow ourselves to be blamed if the results are a catastrophe”.

Boehner should give obama everything he demands
This is what “the people” who voted democrat voted for

Give it to them, tell Harry Reid he won and he gets to run the economy his way and tell the democrats to man up and own it

Boehner must make this a public announcement on the steps of the US Capitol, invite Harry to share in the announcement. Provide an empty chair if he fails to appear (he wont appear, he knows the democrat “plan” will strangle the economy)

Boehner should watch how Lucy plays football with Charlie Brown...except give obama the football.

Those of us who did not vote for obama are or should be smart enough to be prepared for the consequences. The pain of higher taxes and possible economic depression will be the cost we pay to expose the bankruptcy of liberal economic policy. But it is time in our history to let the democrats HAVE THEIR WAY.

Yes, that may be the case, and it will be painfull, but at some point the turniquite will get so tight that honest rebellion will occur. Let the rich hollywood types and the Sillicon Valley types, and the Buffets pour their money into the government coffers just like they claim they want to.
