GOP to be blamed for plunging off 'fiscal cliff'
WND ^ | 11/7/2012 | Joe Kovacs

If Republicans don’t go along with calls by President Obama for higher taxes and the nation goes off a “fiscal cliff,” then the GOP is to blame, says a Democratic congressman.

<SNIP>

Conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh said Wednesday it’s actually Democrat policies of massive borrowing and spending that’s pushing the nation over the edge.

“We are going over a financial cliff. Everybody in the Obama camp knows we are going over the financial cliff whether we raise taxes on the rich or not,” Limbaugh explained. “Raising taxes, confiscating the wealthy’s money would not save us. There isn’t the money. But this is how this works now. This is how they do it. … It’s not Obama, you see, whose policies are going to take us over the financial cliff. It’s these Republican creeps that won’t go along with tax increases.”

But will Republicans draw a line in the sand, or will they go along with tax hikes?

As Rush correctly points out, the Dems know we're in trouble financially no matter what happens and they plan on dumping the resulting mess in the GOP's lap.

I've we're going over the cliff anyway, I say Boehner should give Obama everything he wants. Let him and the entire Democrat party own the coming crash. It's going to hurt bad, but the sooner we bite this bullet, the quicker we can begin the recovery.

I'm beginning to coming around to that line of reasoning.

I’m tired of these games. America wants Obama’s super-charged Welfare State? Fine. Let the “Bush” tax cuts expire — ALL of them, including the middle and lower class tax cuts. Force America to choose — do you want low spending or high spending with the taxes that go with it? Because we are at the point where taxes on the “rich” aren’t going to even come close to paying for our current level of spending. Does America want a big middle class tax hike or does it want to cut spending. That’s what Republicans should put on the table. Quit playing Obama’s game that this is just about a tax hike on the “rich.”

But will Republicans draw a line in the sand, or will they go along with tax hikes.

Seems to me the House already passed a budget to fix this problem, So the answer is simple. We already passed the budget in the House to avoid sequestration, maybe you should ask Harry Reid and the President if he intends to let Sequestration go through or Pass A Budget in the Senate.

but they wont cuz the media might say bad things about them

The GOP should make a good faith effort to achieve reasonable compromises. If we can get bills created that help the country, then (of course) the GOP should vote for them.

But if compromise is impossible, if the bills are looking bad, then the Republicans should "abstain" and allow bad bills to pass with nothing but Democrats voting Yes. That way the Left cannot point to bad law and say, "Hey, you guys voted for it too."

We're not helping the country when we lose elections. Maybe we should work toward helping the country understand that the Democrats -- and only the Democrats -- are taking us to a bad place.

Not even François Hollande could withstand the ramifications of his 75% tax rate on the rich and is backing off, apparently.

“GOP will get blamed by the MSM no matter what they do.”

Exactly right. The media already has the two narratives in the can ready to go.

“GOP House refuses compromise on budget, pushes nation over fiscal cliff.”

or

“GOP House passes massive tax hikes; middle class crushed.”

Agreed! No need to try to save the crop. Burn it to the ground. Remember, ashes are the best fertilizer.

they will be blamed and they will bend over and take the blame like pathetic little cowards rather than fight back...

hey boehner- when obama tells you the American people are behind him on raising taxes on the rich tell the ayatollah the American people also want obamacare repealed- then offer him a deal- increased taxes on the rich in return for a repeal of obamacare...man up boehner...

Indeed. Fine. “Blame” away.

Let it burn to the ground. Credit rating kaput, negative economic growth, no more borrowing allowed because no one is lending.

Let the left eat the consequences of their ideology. I don’t care who gets blamed. I just know that if they try to take it out on me personally, there will be a trail of “deanimated” 0zombies.

EXACTLY my sentiments. If this b$%#ch is gonna crash, and the wings already fell off, throttle up and get it over with! The sooner the crash happens the sooner we can start re-building

My only question is, what does the crash of America actually look like? Riots? Banks of money? Police and Fire walking off of the job? Do governments quit paying workers? China calls debt or threatens war? What am I looking for that says, "Buckle up, Brace for impact."?

I think Obama won with alot of luck (Storm Sandy) and people who like him didn’t’t want to see him fail. This time, he owns it all. Let’s hope the Gop plays hard ball and hits him at every legal turn they can because he is one corrupt person and set out to make USA , Europe. The media has orchestrated this entire change to America. The media is mostly responsible for covering for his lies and ail of the failures. We just didn’t’t have the base *totally* on board. It was not conservatism that failed nor is the country flipping liberal. A lot of the people who voted for him are dysfunctional(weird to go against America’s foundation to make America into THEIR version) Look at all of the states in which Liberal governors put their backwards liberal agenda in place. Personally, we need a revolt for action or to start playing hard ball with the socialists because we have to get those people who have given up to become interested once again. People are going to have to fight even harder and the GOP HAS to get a pro conservative candidate no more McCain lites so people will vote. There was always a poll that worried me that said about 34% (it got higher closer to election day) said they did not like neither candidate.

Forget about it. The Republicans should just step aside. The lowlifes have won.Sixteen trillion in Federal debt, trillions more in state and local debts, unprecedented dollar printing,a bizarre unchecked anti capitalist EPA spewing regulations, a health and job killing Obamacare ( a leftwing twofer),high taxes and low productivity. The barbarian Obama crowned by the demented and decadent.Living standards will decline and social tensions will lead to violence. the new trendy term is the “fiscal cliff.” Good comic term to describe the Obama clown parade rushing toward the precipice with their tattered “Its Bush’s fault” banners flying. Face it folks the country chose this barbaric fool and must suffer the consequences. The Republicans simply do not have the power to save the country.
