I’m concerned with Prop. 13 being repealed/revoked, whatever you call it.

The fortunate thing is a lot of the pols have houses which are covered by low Prop 13 taxes. If they vote to eliminate it on residential housing they will suffer some big tax increases. Since Prop 13 taxes can be inherited with the house even young Rats can have a big stake.
For instance..I bought my house in 1973. My prop taxes are 1300 per year.
If I sold it new owner would be paying 12000.
It is more likely they will stick it to commercial property and end Prop 13 on it.
That will put a lot of small business’s in deep trouble.

Propr 13 is in the cross hairs, of that you can be sure.

Imagine what will happen if the grifters in Sacramento have unlimited freedom to raise property taxes.

As a life-long California resident, I’d appreciate it if you would use the correct terminology

Prop. 13 will be — pick your favorite

“right-sized”

“fine-tuned”

“made a living, breathing amendment”

“made compassionate”

and of course, my personal favorite

“made fair”

I own two houses, one in San Jose (personal residence) and one in San Francisco (investment home)

Likely will sell both and move to Arizona or Nevada, perhaps within two years. I will miss the Pacific Ocean, but oh well !

Only two things that will keep my wife and me here:
1. Prop. 13 staying untouched
2. The (now in their early 20s) kids
3. Wife’s family

But with the lower costs, living in Las Vegas or Phoenix, hey, the Bay Area would be only a long drive or a short plane ride away

That’s next, and it’ll work. Fairness, and the wealthy in their homes cheating on property taxes, not paying their fair share. Prop 30’s passage just handed brown the win on Prop 13.

California’s lost for good.
