Dan Senor has no more influence in the White House today than he did yesterday.
That's the key foreign policy takeaway from the US reelection of President Barack Obama last night. Mitt Romney had surrounded himself with neocons and other hawkish advisers, eager to regain the influence they lost when John McCain fell to Mr. Obama in 2008. Now, it looks like four more years in the wilderness for them.
The chance that the US will start a new war has decreased, and Obama and like-minded officials will continue to put their realist stamp on US foreign relations as they wind down the Afghanistan war and try to use sanctions, rather than combat, to slow Iran's nuclear program. The dreams of transforming the world with US troops and tanks that inflamed so many of President Bush's advisers at the start of the Iraq war, will now be dreamt a long way from 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.
Mr. Senor was a key political player for the Bush administration in Iraq after the 2003 invasion, advising Paul Bremer on how to run the country in 2003 and 2004.

I’d say yay, but Obama’s foreign policy has basically been the neocons’, so I doubt it.

Wrong! Once Obama decimates our military and downgrades our fighting capability it is going to create a huge power vacuum around the world. This will embolden our enemies and create a much more likely chance to enable a future world war. Peace and security comes with a price. Obama is going to learn this the hard way.
Likely that a war will be thrust on us through the weakness of our lame ass leadership
So basically it’s Dan’s position that we go around starting wars, huh? The next time people fly planes into civilian buildings Dan will be grateful that Obama will go apologize... again.

Considering the mess that was made in Iraq during that time that’s not a factoid one should broadcast.
China is likely to move on Taiwan, and get hostile with Japan, both of which we have treaty obligations likely do drag us in. Israel will pull the trigger this spring, we will get some backsplash from that one. Russia is feeling frisky of late, they may just absorb a NATO country.
Weakness doesn’t equal peace. Another “Peace in our time” moment, perhaps.

How many sanctions did Obama/Clinton use against Gaddafi? “We came, we saw, (he was raped/tortured/murdered as a POW), he DIED!”.
So much for his new “peaceful” solution. We are taking casualties in the undeclared war on Libya.
Bet it takes Obama longer to get the “guys responsible” for raping/murdering our ambassador than it took “him” to get Osama (born on third, he thought he’d hit a triple).
One other thing to consider in a second Obama term. Hillary is out. Who will the new Secretary of Hate be?
Dems are only opposed to Republican wars.
So, we are supposed to feel better about an Obama second term...we will not go to war, but the Russians are along our coastal waters in submarines, the Chinese are at the back door and the Iranians are setting up air force bases in Venezuela. What could go wrong?
Not to mention that Obama is supporting and arming the Taliban, al Qaeda, and various other nefarious ME entities. This man is bringing the US to its knees...and all the while the left is delirious with joy. That will last until the Russians or Chinese...or Muslim brotherhood, for that matter, start overrunning our own neighborhoods, in our own cities, but by then it will be too late.

I don’t know who this writer is but he is extremely biased to the point of not only being unprofessional, but also being an asskisser for Obama.
Bush liberated two countries, something no Democrat has done since WW2. Clinton didn’t liberate Kosovo, etc. He made it worse to the point that the area is now Jihad-Central against Christians and moderate Moslems in the region. Also the drug-smuggling capital of the old Yugoslavia/Albania axis.
The writer seems to forget that Obama betrayed the people of Iran by failing to support their peaceful protests that could have brought down the Mullahs; blew it on Tunisia, Libya, Egypt, and Syria while betraying our allies in Honduras and Colombia.
And he is a “Staff Writer” for the Christian Science Monitor? Something is sadly wrong there.
This is not to say that the NeoCons won't have some influence. After all, when Obama consented to intervene in Libya, Bill Kristol proclaimed Obama to be a "Born Again NeoCon".
