Statistics show that conservatives are overwhelmingly the people in this country who volunteer their time and give their money to charities.
Very few of the lefties I know ever do anything that isn't for their own benefit. When they give, it's to political causes. The only time they ever do anything for the underprivileged, the at-risk, the needy is if they are getting paid to do it.
I say we pull out and let the country see what happens when an army of conservative volunteers fails to show up.
Let's switch places with the lefties. Let them do the heavy charitable lifting while we focus on politics.
I have for many years done a lot of volunteer work and given much to charity. That ends today.
In addition, I will do my best to avoid patronizing any business that supported 0bama.
I think it is interesting that these were my exact thoughts. I have ended all charity for the foreseeable future. I am also not going to volunteer any goods, services or time. I am done.
Won’t work. Under Obama, there are no homeless and no poor people. Don’t you watch the news?
I agree. I will not donate anything (material goods, money) to any charity. When the calls come in I will tell them to call the Kenyan Santa Claus at the White Hut.

Nice idea. But then the lefties will say, “See? This is why we need government social services.”

We’ve worked so hard to dispel the old stereotypes of Scrooge-like conservatives. Remember the “kinder, gentler nation”? Remember “compassionate conservativism?”
We can’t throw that away by becoming troll food.
If you do this, you will have just become that which you despise.

Not bad ideas guys but, we also have to think big picture here. The demographics of this country are changing and in order to build a conservative majority we absolutely have to make minorities feel comfortable in this party.
I was listening on the radio today and a black man was talking about how Voter ID, Immigration Reform, Welfare reform drive minorities away who may otherwise be attracted to our economic message due to the racist undertones of such policies.
Don’t get all upset. I was offened by this suggestion, too. The last thing I think about when I support these ideas is racism. But, apparently minorities see everything through the prism of race. To be honest, I’m thinking mostly about fiscal responsibility and national integrity with these items. Nevertheless, our minority brothers and sisters (blacks, asians, hispanics) are inferring something nefarious when that is the last thing being implied.
Our mission over the next several years should be to do a better job of welcoming minorities into the conservative party and make sure we do a better job of explaining how our policy ideas help everyone. On the flip side, we also need to keep explaining how the policies of the left have done minorities no good over the last 60 years.
The bottom line is the conservative movement won’t survive unless we can get minorities on board. We need to step up and get these folks on board helping us.

We have ALREADY surrendered and compromised what Conservative values we had to ‘reach out’ to those who are going to vote Marxist/Socialist no matter what Conservatives do to the point the GOP stands for NOTHING but a status quo.
We’re done with that. We lost yesterday BECAUSE the GOP has done exactly what idiocy you are advocating now. Reach-out = compromise and surrender.
The GOP can pound sand, we’re done compromising. It’s time to stand, or die in the process of standing.

I say we all just quit work. If we did, where would the government get money to operate. Where would they get the money to give goodies to the freeloading 50% who live off the government. I am old enough to just retire and have been thinking about it. One thing for damn sure is I’m getting my passport renewed, just in case. This country is in a flat spin and the rudder fell off. Blacks will never come over. And Voter ID will prevent more vote fraud than the honest number of minorities that would feel as that guy did. It’s just a lame excuse as they’ve been brainwashed by their white overlords. With each election we see the racial divide more and more. We should be reaching out to Democrats of all races, not engaging in alienating racial pandering
You are missing the point, sir.
I said absolutely nothing about compromising our principles. I said we need to explain to minorities how our principles can be of help to them. Minorities are not comfortable with us. This is a problem we need to address and a challenge we absolutely have to embrace.
We need talk about our principles and get them on board....not compromise! Get it? We need their help....whether you want to admit it or not.

Your idea will work with many I'm sure of that. But how do we screen them out to get good results? There is a large large number of so called minorities that are addicted to handouts. Withdrawal will painful for all party's involved.
