How Obama Could Turn The Supreme Court Into A Bastion Of Liberalism

While the nation's highest court barely got a mention this election season, President Barack Obama could reshape the conservative-leaning Supreme Court now that he has won.

To be sure, two of the court's oldest justices are liberals: 79-year-old Ruth Bader Ginsburg and 74-year-old Stephen Breyer.

But other septuagenarians fill the court's less liberal wing, too – namely the mercurial swing vote Anthony Kennedy and the bombastic right-winger Antonin Scalia, both of whom are 76.

If Kennedy retires, Obama can replace him with a justice who more frequently sides with liberals on issues from employee rights to class-action lawsuits, Daniel Fisher writes for Forbes.

And Obama could have a chance to replace Scalia with a justice who's his ideological opposite.

Since Obama already appointed Elena Kagan and Sonia Sotomayor, he could conceivably have a chance to be responsible for half of the court's justices, Paul Brandus pointed out in The Week.

And a liberal-leaning court could undo past decisions that favored conservatives like Citizens United, which opened the door for corporations to freely bankroll elections.

King Obama will load liberals/communists in the SC. You can bet on that. His ambition is to become America's first dictator. And there is nothing to stop him.

SCOTUS is already liberal.

It upheld the idea that the government can mandate what you must spend your own money on.

Doesn’t matter anymore.

1. He’s already got his liberal majority on SCOTUS. Roberts is a traitor.

2. SCOTUS will not be able to stop what is coming regardless of who is on it.

The court is usually pretty careful to make sure they don’t end up as targets. If they became a problem the House could easily eliminate their protective service. You did know those old folks don’t run too fast.

From the article: And a liberal-leaning court could...

Is this writer for real?

Or is the poster of this thread that naive?

"Could"???

What then have we had for at least the past 40 years?

Roe v. Wade...Webster...the "animus" decision vs. Colorado voters...judicial activism from rogue judges left and right!!! etc etc. etc.

"Could?"

"Left-leaning" -- as if that was going to come?

If the last 40 years has been somewhere near dead-center, look out for the next 40 years!!!

Hence, the headline of this piece is likewise ridiculous:
How Obama Could TURN The Supreme Court Into A Bastion Of Liberalism

"Turn?" "Turn?"

It does not matter. I think, as a nation, we have tipped. This was the last gasp for a Republican and we lost. Four more years will not put us in a more favorable position. The demographics, MSM, immigration, and further damage to the fabric of our nation will not allow us to return to the POTUS. Rush thought there was enough left to resist a 2nd term for Ozero, but there was not and I think he recognized it today.

If they can collapse the nation, the SCOTUS will become irrelevant as we will be reorganized with a social contract replacing the constitution (that most Americans see as outdated and too restrictive).

Given that Romney as Governor appointed known homosexual activists to the bench, I’m okay taking my chances with Obama.

Pray for the conuing good health and service of Justices Kennedy, Scalia, Thomas, and Alito, and Roberts too. Any replacements will be very very liberal.

Don’t forget that Obama also has four more years to pack the lower federal courts with liberals now too.

We have had the power to remove bozo from office since 2010.

This was our last chance.

Time to pay the piper.

The errors in this article are appalling. Scalia is not a “bombastic” conservative but simply an honorable judge with an intelligent and centered view of his responsibilities, a rarity but exactly what his job is supposed to be and what Americans depend on him to do.
Sotomayor and Kagan are not merely “liberals” but deliberate violators of their oaths and responsibilities. They do not interpret law within congressional intent and Constitutionality but are specifically on the Court to replace Constitutional jurisprudence with progressive principles. They subvert by intent.

Liberalism? Hardly!

Four years from now the mojority on SCOTUS will share their worldview with HUgo Chavez.

And that is NOT a joke.
