Inside the Secret World of the Data Crunchers Who Helped Obama Win
Time ^ | 11/7/2012 | Michael Scherer

Posted on 11/07/2012 1:20:54 PM PST by mojito

....[F]rom the beginning, campaign manager Jim Messina had promised a totally different, metric-driven kind of campaign in which politics was the goal but political instincts might not be the means. “We are going to measure every single thing in this campaign,” he said after taking the job. He hired an analytics department five times as large as that of the 2008 operation, with an official “chief scientist” for the Chicago headquarters named Rayid Ghani, who in a previous life crunched huge data sets to, among other things, maximize the efficiency of supermarket sales promotions.

Exactly what that team of dozens of data crunchers was doing, however, was a closely held secret. “They are our nuclear codes,” campaign spokesman Ben LaBolt would say when asked about the efforts. Around the office, data-mining experiments were given mysterious code names such as Narwhal and Dreamcatcher....The “scientists” created regular briefings on their work for the President and top aides in the White House’s Roosevelt Room, but public details were in short supply as the campaign guarded what it believed to be its biggest institutional advantage over Mitt Romney’s campaign: its data.

On Nov. 4, a group of senior campaign advisers agreed to describe their cutting-edge efforts with TIME on the condition that they not be named and that the information not be published until after the winner was declared. What they revealed as they pulled back the curtain was a massive data effort that helped Obama raise $1 billion, remade the process of targeting TV ads and created detailed models of swing-state voters that could be used to increase the effectiveness of everything from phone calls and door knocks to direct mailings and social media.

Interesting. The 0 people certainly knew a lot more about who the electorate was likely to be and how to manipulate them than Team Mitt.

Also interesting is that Nate Silver, another number cruncher using what appear to be similar methods, was highly accurate in his election predictions. Was Team Zero sharing data with Silver? Were they working together?

One doubts it was “analysis”.

Months from now, I bet it will have been multiple voting,
felon voting, illegal alien voting, and the dumping
of military and Republican votes in gutter.

These meetings replaced meetings with The Jobs Council? I guess the 23 million unemployed could be sacrificed for the greater glory of Hussein 0bama, right? Add four more at Benghazi who gave the ultimate sacrifice so the commie could get re-elected.

There is nothing sophisticated about what they did. They simply went into certain urban neighborhoods, found the stupidest people they could, and had them vote early. That’s all they did.

I do not believe the exit polls....any of them.

I firmly believe we have just been the victims of the biggest fraud in the history of mankind.

I refuse to believe that the American people were energized to vote for President Obama yesterday.

This election could be a script from a movie, therefore, I am starting to believe it was designed as such.

I think it is far more likely that a plan has been in the works to corrupt this cycle since 2010.

Multiple blue states voted for every Democrat in statewide races by a similar count as what President Obama gained in that state.

States that typically split their statewide vote went 100% Democrat for every statewide race. That can only come from straight party-line voting.

If you wanted to demoralize your opponents, and had the ability, you would arrange the votes in a few safe districts within a few states to overwhelm the other party’s safe districts, regardless of turnout.

Then, you would ensure the exit polling contradicted everything your opponents believe, everything they expect and everything they support.

At that point, your opponents would turn on each other, re-think their beliefs and dissolve into irrelevance.

Who would have thought that four years ago, the United States would elect a man who served only 40 months in the US Senate to the White House? Who would have thought his background, his history and his performance would be protected, minimized or dismissed over the course his first term?

If an evil alliance of socialists and islamists really exist in our world, could they have engineered such events?

I’m sure they factored in the cheating factor...but they knew in advance where to cheat for maximum impact.

Our campaign was clumsy and clueless, partly at least because it was run by Romney’s friends from Massachussetts (who obviously knew nothing about the rest of the country).

But we in the GOP also have this stupid aversion to technology. I can’t tell you how many posts I have read where the poster said the equivalent of, “Yuh, I kin tell ya, I ain’t gonna do none of that dang new-fangled early votin stuff...”

And the poster obviously thought that this was a proud boast, while all the time Obama’s minions were marching off to do early voting (which gave Obama a big boost) in response to radio calls, tweets and even TV ad spots.

“Early Voting” will bring the downfall of democracy. At times I can’t quite fathom why the GOP is as totally stupid as it is. The swallowed “Motor Voter” registration hook, line and sinker when it was totally obvious that it was nothing more than a cover for fraudulent registration of otherwise unqualified individuals. Now they’ve done the same with early voting.

I too believe their was massive vote fraud. It could easily be achieved for a number of reasons. No point in even trying to explain them. Not enough people care. But their is conspiracy, and it started with Gramsci.

Two names missing from that article - Harper Reed and Derek Brooks, who ran the technology organization of Obama's campaign.

EXACTLY

The GOP targeted many if not all of the same areas with messaging that was often tainted by the leftist media. THIS, while the leftists targeted efforts were primarily logistical -their GOTV effort literally involved the physical effort of getting the necessary amount of people to the polls.

0zer0 campaigned for four years and the leftists packed the voting booths for days.

Early and extended voting was what allowed the leftists to win because although messaging can be everywhere on election day logistics can not...

No, early voting does not account for everything.

In Pennsylvania, we have no early voting. We typically split our statewide races even if a strong candidate is running at the top of the ticket.

However, yesterday, the Democrats won every statewide race by nearly the same vote as President Obama.

That is suspicious, if you ask me as I have never seen this before for a (D) or (R) since 1984.

I do have a theory.

You are not alone. But I really doubt we could have got to this point without the helping hand of the traitors within the Republican Party, who have done nothing to address the massive fraud that has plagued our country since Cook County elected John Kennedy.

I hate that I was able to predict this outcome, but I did not foresee how badly we would get whacked in the Senate.

I am in SC and was robo called several times by the DNC to sign up to provide transportation to the polls in key states, all expenses paid. Brilliant use of old tactics on their end, shame on us for relying on the media for our GOTV effort. Conspiracy theories about fraud being laid aside, the Rats earned the win simply by out working the GOPe, Chicago style politics, they pay all angles to win.

People in other countries, or even democrats in this country, would take to the streets and demand justice. We, conservatives, will roll over. Sigh.
