Libertarian contributes to Mia Love defeat in Utah

With 100 percent of the votes counted, incumbent Democrat Jim Matheson received 108,075 (49.34 percent) to Republican Love’s 105,257 (48.06 percent).

Running on the Libertarian ticket, Vein received 5,690 votes, or 2.6 percent.

Yep. And what's destroying the Republican Party is California, New York and Illinois. That's just too many Electoral College votes to spot the opposition and expect to win.

Over the last 20 years, even Mormon Utah has had a huge influx of Californians, who could not stand to see a religious area with good jobs, little crime, continue to exist unopposed.

Not to mention, Tester(D) Montana defeated Rehberg(R) for the Senate seat, 48.7% to 44.6% with another 6.5% going to the supposedly Dem planted Libertarian, Cox.

Richard Mourdock lost mainly because of his stupid ill-timed rape comment. You think he would have learned something from Todd Aikin's experience. Experience is a dear school, but a fool will learn in no other.

There is always a small portion (perhaps as many as one third) of Losertarians who would have voted for the Democrat or not shown up at all, because the freedom to smoke pot is greater than any other freedom to them.

Tandem problem is too many Republican delegates allocated on the basis of population and not enough allocated on the basis of actual performance or even potential performance.

Try Senator Orrin Hatch.

The Matheson party is one of the most well known and well liked families in Utah, his father was a very popular Governor, the Courthouse in downtown SLC is named after his father. The folks of Utah like him.

Every few years the GOP legislature tries to change the district to get rid of him but it hasn't happened..as with Montana and other western states folks routinely will split their ballots voting for the GOP at the top of the ticket and a Dim or third party candidate down ticket.

You've got to be kidding. I said "CONSERVATIVE".

When you look up "RINO" in the dictionary, there's a picture of Orrin Hatch next to it.

Do you want to know why there are no nationally known conservative lds politicians? See my tagline. Mormonism as a philosophy sees NO NEED for limited government, since they believe that humans are naturally good and unfallen. There is no sin nature in Mormonism. Limited government, separation of powers and checks and balances were established by the Founding Fathers because they had a Biblical world view.

Hatch is not my favorite senator. He has been all too friendly to the likes of Ted Kennedy, whom I regard as one of the destroyers of our country.

But on the other hand, Hatch has undeniably done some good things for the conservative cause, including his successful shepherding of Clarence Thomas's nomination to the Supreme Court. Hatch is also unapologetically pro-life.

So I don't think you can fairly take away the description "conservative" from Hatch. The fact that there are others who are more conservative doesn't disqualify him.

About Mormonism I know very little, and I can't say I care very much. Two of my dearest friends are Mormons; they are Tea Party members and the best people you would ever want to meet.
