[Libertarian Gary] Johnson satisfied with presidential run, mum on future bid for office

Libertarian presidential candidate Gary Johnson says he's satisfied with his 2012 run, but he is keeping quiet on whether he'll take another shot at the White House or another elective office.

"Ours is a mission accomplished,” Johnson told FoxNews.com. “We put a true small-government, individual-freedom option on the ballot in virtually every state and have assembled an organization that will carry that message forward.”

His vote count is the difference in Florida and I think in SOME other states. While we cannot blame HIM for OUR LOSS, still all of those who said that 3rd party votes are valid protests, I will be thinking of you when Obama gets his 2 or 3 Supreme Court LIFETIME Justices. The same goes for the Ron Paul die-hards who refused to even go vote. Was there a Senate race that you also did not vote in. Harry Reid thanks you!

It is a shame the RNC went through the exercise to oust the Ron Paul delegates in Tampa. They needed to approach Paul and get his support. Many of these Gary Johnson votes are Paul supporters. We needed to get everyone unified as much as possible for this fight. Instead, the RNC pissed ‘em off.

The Libertarian vote was insignificant in the overall outcome. In none of the swing states did Gary Johnson's total cover the Obama vs. Romney gap. For instance, he won 49,000 votes in Ohio, but Obama won the Buckeye State by 100,000. Overall, Johnson won about 1.2 million votes in the national popular vote, but Obama has a 2.6 million vote lead over Romney.

Blaming libertarians for Romney's loss is wrong. So is conjuring up massive conspiracies, although voter fraud no doubt occured. Blaming the MSM is justifiable, but even back in 1964, Goldwater complained of the liberal bias of the media. That bias did not prevent Nixon, Reagan, or the Bushes from being elected, sometimes by landslides. The real issue is the makeup of the national electorate. The character of the American people has changed for the worse.

Four more years of stinky B.O.

"Ours is a mission accomplished,”

Yep. It sure is. you succeeded in your goal of syphoning off enough votes so that we got another four years of a Marxist in the White House who will drive this nation down even further and get to stack the Supreme Court with other Marixsts forever. Good job, Gary.

I agree but that misses my point, my screed is about Gov. Johnson being satisfied with his "mission accomplished" and the end results is 4 more years of Obama. I cannot conceive of any President more antithetical to the Libertarian ideals yet Gov. Johnson is SATISFIED! I hope that he is interviewed in four years to find his continuing level of satisfaction!

Is there a way to see a state by state breakdown of the libertarian vote?

I’m sorry, I forgot that I owed Romney my vote. I mistakenly thought he had to earn it. Instead o thinking about how libertarians cost Romney the election you should look to the people who voted for Obama. Republicans should also look in the mirror. This is the seventh consecutive election the Republicans nominated a fiscal moderate. I guess the Ron Paul and Gary Johnson supporters didn’t get the memo to shut up and vote for the lesser of two evils instead of the most qualified candidate-Gary Johnson.
I empathize with your sense of loss. Obama was not my choice either. But I, as a libertarian,, while not happy with the results can look in the mirror and say I voted for the best candidate.

This egomaniac and his stupid band of supporters are a disgrace to the human race. He had great success yesterday helping elect Obama, which makes him feel powerful. I predict more of this kind of thing—it’s fun for them.

We’re living with the disaster of Ron Paul goofy supporters here in Iowa. Our crazy Ron Paul delegation went to Tampa and voted 22 for Paul and 6 for Romney. Why? Because these people are nuts and feel they can do anything they want but there is a day of reckoning coming for them here in Iowa. They are pretty much destroy the Republican Part of Iowa. If the way they handle money here in Iowa is any indication of the way Ron Paul would govern, Ron Paul would not be any better at managing the US finances than Obama and their foreign policies and keeping America would be identical.

Of course you can. I could have voted for Gary and said the same thing. I did not.

When and if you stop looking at yourself in the mirror in self-rightousness, walk outside into the real world an take a look at what you helped our nation to. Thanks a ton.

Furthermore, you'd be hard pressed to find any people here that wanted Romney. You play with the cards you're dealt. Such is life.

In the mean time, I would ask a simple favor. From houeto to Wahoo1995 (big L) to go post on big L sites and leave us alone.

Just as you started your post about not knowing that you owed Romney your vote, all of us here know that you didn't owe him a damn thing. I hope that you get asked by a grandchild some day, "Pawpaw, why didn't you stop Obama?"

I thought these boards were for open discussion. As a fiscal conservative I feel right at home here. if you do not like the posts, instead of telling me to leave you should take your marbles and go home. We can disagree with substance and still be respectful.
You are right, you could have voted for Johnson. But instead of voting for
Johnson you fell back to your ‘lesser of two evils’ approach. I had the same philosophy for years as a disgruntled republican. See how it has worked out. Reagan talked about his departure from the Democratic Party. He said he didn’t leave the Democratic Party, it left him. I think the same about the Republican Party. Why would the Republican Party change to a more fiscally conservative platform when it knows people like you will still have to vote with them to stop the ‘evil’ democrats. My vote is more than a vote for a candidate, it is my voice. Romney wouldn’t have won Ohio even if every Johnson vote went to Romney. And until Republicans put forth a fiscal conservative candidate, a lot of former Republicans will not vote for them.
As far self congratulating, there is none. Just a clean conscious. Do you really think one of my grandchildren will ask me why I helped Obama? Nice try to heap on guilt but it is a little misplaced. If I am asked by a grandchild why I voted for Johnson the answer will be pretty simple. I will tell him that I loved my family and my country enough to reach for freedom instead of settling for less tyranny.
