The words Mandate and Obama do not belong in the same sentence.

The word “mandate,” the concept of “mandate,” will go into the memory hole for at least the next four years.

It's an incredibly stupid question. It presupposes that Obama cares if he is doing what the electorate wants.

He doesn’t need a mandate. He has the power, the media, the Senate, his executive orders, the military, and he does not feel constrained by our “living” (i.e. dead) Constitution.

How long will it be until we see his Civilian Security force as large and well-funded as the US military?

Not at 50% of the vote. If this were a parlimentary system there would be a runoff

I'd assumed this little punk asswipe would be a one-term wonder.

As it turns out, we're a population of asswipes.

I'd suggest quitting your jobs and hastening the collapse.

Doesn’t matter. He has the power that’s all that matters to him. He has shown a willingness to disregard the law, bypass Congress and do whatever he thinks is best. His second term will be marked by more of this lawless behavior and I believe to an even greater degree

“The words Mandate and Obama do not belong in the same sentence.”

How about the words, “I WON”? That will slip out at the first sign of any opposition to husseins master plan and just before he signs a slew of executive orders.

Agreed. Obama can do what ever the heck he wants at this point. He is not going to be elected again, the press is going to give him a pass, so there is no reason for him to be restrained.

According to our Constitution he is President. Not sure where “mandate” is mentioned in said document.

I have never understood the idea of a mandate.

Why 55% should give an elected official significantly greater legitimacy than 50.1% is beyond me.

Obama will get what Obama wants. I don't think the House will have a lot of luck blocking him, and if they try, he will just issue Executive Orders.

There is an expected way that our government should function. There are things the executive branch can do, and there are things that it is not allowed to do. And I think all of that is out the window. Obama will get what Obama wants.

For a man who exerts supra-Constitutional coercive Executive power without concern for consequences, the concept of a "People's" mandate is meaningless!

How about the words, “I WON”? How about the words, "Your not a king, asshole!"

Perception determines reality in a post-modern world in which there are no absolutes. Obama has whatever mandate the mainstream media says he does. The media will say America wrote him a blank check to do his will, and the GOP will be silenced.

Obama could care less what anybody thinks but himself.

And if anyone thinks that Boner will resist him, I have a bridge to sell him. We won the House again, but there aren’t enough Tea Partiers to control the votes, and most of the Tea Party congressmen are second termers at best, so the usual suspects will reappoint the same tired, corrupt leadership, and there aren’t enough votes to stop them.

Yes.

The takers who will vote outnumber the makers. This situation won’t improve in the next 4 years. Not only does Obama have a mandate, his successor, a Democrat, will have a mandate too. That is, until the whole thing goes toes up.
