As somebody said, skills are worth more than gold. You can trade skills more easily and they are far more portable than gold or anything else.
Your wealth should be tied up in things you can use, like clothes, food, tools. Having it tied in some sort of financial arrangement, whether it be bonds or gold or whatever, is not as valuable if nobody is buying.
I will tell you what my thoughts are now and perhaps people here reading this can give me their opinions. What I want to do now is get this house in decent shape to sell, get my assets in more liquid form, then maybe find a little place on the beach in a place like South Carolina where I can throw a few lines in the water and have a fresh catch every day for dinner. Is that a cop out? I don't know, maybe. But I am just very, very tired, and very depressed.
