Boehner: Focus on ‘common ground’ to help avert fiscal cliff (DON'T COMPROMISE, LET IT CRASH!)

Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) will deliver a statement Wednesday afternoon on the need for both Republicans and Democrats to find some agreement to avoid the so-called fiscal cliff — a combination of tax hikes and spending cuts that are scheduled for 2013.

Boehner's office said he would call on both sides to seek "common ground" to help the economy and create jobs, which in turn would help reduce the national debt.

Boehner is scheduled to speak at 3:30 p.m. in the Capitol. He'll speak just hours after Republicans maintained their hold on the House of Representatives.

Leaders from both parties have expressed optimism that finding cooperation on the fiscal cliff would be somewhat easier post-election. But Tuesday's vote essentially cemented in place the federal government that has wrangled over these issues for the past two year and failed to find common ground.

I hear that...it's 'Scorched Earth' time...crash it into the ground..

The quicker this thing fails, the quicker we get to rebuild it.

Weepy Boehner needs to just crawl away. The “Gone Old Party” is done. Please, someone, stick a fork in it.

Many believe in doctor assisted suicide. That when someone is suffering so horribly with no chance of recovery that it’s better to let them die suddenly then linger.

Their thinking won last night.

Let it crash.

John-Boy needs a flood of calls reminding him that he still has his cushy gig as Speaker because we DO NOT WANT COMPROMISE.

Let’s work those phones, people.

When we won in 2010 and the House kept every, single GOP-E leader in power I knew that nothing would change.

Boehner should be gone after last night. Period.

Smart move. Openly support compromise while not compromising. Gingrich made the mistake of starting a verbal war and the media made him into Lord Voldemort.

We are willing to compromise with the President as long as he agrees to what we want. That’s how Obama does it.

I recommend “Automated Continuing Resolutions” Then our fearless President will merely press a button on his desk to order another trillion in ‘funny’ money.
This will remove a great deal of pressure from the Speaker, a good but weepy man.

Yep. When the Pubbies compromise, it always ends up costing taxpayers more money. I'm done with it all. This was the last election I'll ever vote in. They can all go f*ck themselves for all I care.

Nah, it's just in his nature. He's from the Bob Michel line of Republicans.

We need to ditch the Republicans and either follow the TEAparty, or come up with another TEAparty-like party that can gain a large following.

So much for the Tea Party guys we sent up there holding their ground and putting an end to this stuff. All the republicans griping about Romney need to be willing to admit that little reality.
I say shut the government down.

Remember, They are always conservative until they get elected. But sitting by and letting extreme liberals run with it by not showing up to polls is worse.

The Republican House has “more flexibility now that the election is over”.
