Why I Was Wrong

I’ve got egg on my face. I predicted a Romney landslide and, instead, we ended up with an Obama squeaker. The key reason for my bum prediction is that I mistakenly believed that the 2008 surge in black, Latino, and young voter turnout would recede in 2012 to “normal” levels. Didn’t happen. These high levels of minority and young voter participation are here to stay. And, with them, a permanent reshaping of our nation’s politics. In 2012, 13% of the vote was cast by blacks. In 04, it was 11%. This year, 10% was Latino. In ’04 it was 8%. This time, 19% was cast by voters under 30 years of age. In ’04 it was 17%. Taken together, these results swelled the ranks of Obama’s three-tiered base by five to six points, accounting fully for his victory. I derided the media polls for their assumption of what did, in fact happen: That blacks, Latinos, and young people would show up in the same numbers as they had in 2008. I was wrong. They did.

>>I don’t believe it. I’m beginning to think the Dems pulled off the fraud of the century. Nothing makes sense and I’m beginning to believe this whole thing was rigged from the beginning.

If so, it will get out somehow. If it does...

Bottom line - The takers now rule. America is dead.

Agreed...It’s all down hill from here.

14 million fewer people voted during this election. Obama won by a much smaller number than 2008. The reason the Republicans lost is this: Liberal Dem vs Liberal Repub = Dems winning. Simple as that.

All non-leftist need to find the best ways of living their lives, while, also, ignoring politics, perhaps for the rest of their lives. Only a total collapse of leftist politics and programs will create a re-emergence of a non-leftist political majority. Until then, conservatism will remain as a political minority. Prove me wrong all you want, if it helps to make you feel any better.

Me too, my face is covered with eggs. Romney had erased the gender gap for a while and if he’d maintained that he would have won. But single white women chose to vote with their vaginas instead of their brains.

Yes those voters are here to stay. The left took the time to seek them out, get them registered, and fire them up to get them to the polls. If we are to have a prayer of electing even a RINO, much less a conservative we will have to do the same. I know there are young people, minorities, and middle class people that are mighty unhappy with Obama and yet they either aren’t registered at all or did not vote. I felt all along that turn out would make us or break us. We need to start working today to make sure that like minded people are encouraged to register and vote or we are doomed. I have already talked to several this morning that are dismayed that Obama won and yet they did NOT vote!!

People have their excuses- moved and didn’t get re-registered, super busy- whatever. We need to start gathering those people up- and many told me the “busy” excuse- traveling- so remember to push absentee voting for those people. People either don’t start the habit of voting when they are young or get lazy about it later on. As I see it the only hope we have is to rally those people.

At this point the Republican party has two choices- gather and rally new voters or pander to those that voted for Obama. To me it seems we need to gather more like minded people and not stop trying to reach those that lean left.

My hubby is a one man “get out the vote” machine- he insisted our daughters register as soon as they were old enough- did whatever it took to get them to the polls- including making a 200+ mile trip for one of our daughters that was away at college and her truck didn’t start on election day one year. He encourages everyone that agrees with him to get registered and vote- he does this all the time. If we all did the same it might save our country.

The market took a steep nose-dive this morning: The people in the traces know what’s happening.
The wagon will soon be grinding to a halt while the Obamas deliver their nanny lectures and enjoy their mega-vacations, and their base will be wondering what hit them.
They deserve what they get and they deserve to get it—good and hard.

“The American Republic will endure until the day Congress discovers that it can bribe the public with the public’s money.” Alexis de Tocqueville

The experiment is over. It failed last night.

THE SECOND COMING

Turning and turning in the widening gyre
The falcon cannot hear the falconer;
Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity.

Surely some revelation is at hand;
Surely the Second Coming is at hand.
The Second Coming! Hardly are those words out
When a vast image out of Spiritus Mundi
Troubles my sight: a waste of desert sand;
A shape with lion body and the head of a man,
A gaze blank and pitiless as the sun,
Is moving its slow thighs, while all about it
Wind shadows of the indignant desert birds.

The darkness drops again but now I know
That twenty centuries of stony sleep
Were vexed to nightmare by a rocking cradle,
And what rough beast, its hour come round at last,
Slouches towards Bethlehem to be born?

"The dems were successful in scaring women away from Romney -that was a big factor."

If women are so damned stupid as to allow themselves to be "scared" away from Romney, they deserve what they will get. I hate most of my own gender.

I wish I could say I thought so too, but recent history doesn’t bode well for that train of thought and as an example, just one word:

Benghazi.

Although not a majority, a lot of white men must have been scared too?

Really? Have we become Venezuela?

Not yet. For now we are Europe. More precisely, we've become a Western European social welfare state. That will be characterized by high unemployment and low growth. Those without jobs however will not vote to give the opposition party (conservatives) a chance, instead they will vote to keep their benefits going. Once in awhile Republicans will win when people feel the dominant party (Democratic socialists) have screwed things up horribly bad, but the Republicans won't be able to cut anything because people won't stand for it.

Eventually we may become Venezuela. For now though, we are only Europe.

I don’t think you were wrong. I do think they didn’t need the voters to actually go to polls.

Just as a reminder what we are up against in getting out the vote- I found out last week that my state registers people to vote when they sign up for food stamps and/or assistance programs. Voter registration forms are part of the paperwork they fill out when they apply. I wonder if this is nationwide?

Changing demographics is the rule. You want to be shocked? In Harris County (Houston, Texas) Romney carried it by TWO (yes that's 2) votes. Simply astounding.

I know where I was wrong in my landslide prediction, it was in not believing the DRI of the polls was reflective of public opinion, not selective by the pollsters. Last night I heard Kirsten Powers explain the source of those DRIs. The pollsters did not filter their calls by party affiliation, they did not assume a 2008 model and thereby make their calls, they ASKED those whom the polled "What party most closely reflects your views?" and those DRIs were merely a reporting of the answers to that question.

The Republican Party no longer reflects the views of a majority of voters--not even close. Had I known that prior to the election, today's results would not have been the shock that they were.

According to the voter breakdown I saw on a program last night there are not enough white men to get anyone elected. White men are a numerical minority. Of course they will never be elegible for anything based on that- but it is true.

We have to reach out to like minded people that currently may not vote, women, and minorities.. They are out there- we have to find them and encourage them to get registered and voting.

Morris was wrong but so was I and a lot of others around here.

We looked at Romney winning indies (which he mostly did) and Obama getting less votes this time than in 08 (which he did by like 10 percent or more a whopping drop) and assumed victory. It made no sense that the “skewed” polls showed a DEM +6 turnout but that is exactly what happened.

Also, I for one bought into the anecdotal evidence supplied around here like early voting assumptions and yard signs. The Dems don’t need yard signs to drag 4,000 Somalians into an Ohio voting booth.

I didn’t think Latinos were the new Blacks to the extent that they are. They hate each other by and large out in the streets, but they have the same culture and mentality when it comes to voting. Namely, hate Whitey.

Every commercial and sitcom for the last 15 years shows stupid straight white guy clueless and bumbling while heroic women, minorities and gays stand by and shake their heads.

This election wasn’t rigged and looking back it shouldn’t have been a surprise to me or anyone.

This is the America we have become.

Mitt Romney is an honorable man but he was the wrong person to be the candidate.

He was foisted upon us by the “country club “ wing of the GOP that is currently the leadership cadre of the party & they don’t mind the taste of donkey dick as long as they get invited to cocktail parties in Washington D.C. & get the other various perks and prestige of elected high office .

The TEA party understands this & is willing to fight unlike the country clubbers . The GOP establishment will not expend any effort to save the nation from the fascist tendencies of the Obama regime.

If you want to learn more about what it will take get a copy of RESISTANCE TO TYRANNY by Joseph P. Martino & read it .
