Why I Was Wrong
news ^

Posted on 11/07/2012 7:02:07 AM PST by MNDude

I’ve got egg on my face. I predicted a Romney landslide and, instead, we ended up with an Obama squeaker. The key reason for my bum prediction is that I mistakenly believed that the 2008 surge in black, Latino, and young voter turnout would recede in 2012 to “normal” levels. Didn’t happen. These high levels of minority and young voter participation are here to stay. And, with them, a permanent reshaping of our nation’s politics. In 2012, 13% of the vote was cast by blacks. In 04, it was 11%. This year, 10% was Latino. In ’04 it was 8%. This time, 19% was cast by voters under 30 years of age. In ’04 it was 17%. Taken together, these results swelled the ranks of Obama’s three-tiered base by five to six points, accounting fully for his victory. I derided the media polls for their assumption of what did, in fact happen: That blacks, Latinos, and young people would show up in the same numbers as they had in 2008. I was wrong. They did.

Everyone seems to be blaming the black & Latino vote.
That’s just part of it.
The dems were successful in scaring women away from Romney -that was a big factor.

“I got me a Obamaphone! He gonna pay my electik bill!” The country teeters close to the point where >50% of the voters vote for a living, outnumbering those who actually work for a living. When that threshold is crossed (and it might have happened last night) there is no going back; no one in the future can win who promises to give away fewer freebies and gimmes than the other guy promises.

This will continue until The Collapse stops it dead in its tracks. The Collapse is coming, and optimistically, might occur on Obama’s watch. What things will look like after The Collapse is anyone’s guess. Maybe it will look like lower Manhattan looks right now - people left to fend for themselves, with none of the promised gimmes they were not only expecting, they were utterly depending upon.

We’re at +5 Republican party ID, and no one goes out to vote?

Really? Have we become Venezuela?

Obama won because he took 5.1 million more votes in the under 30 demographic.

That’s obviously where we need to focus. The good news that in 2016 they will be 4 years older, paying taxes (if they can find jobs) and see what their health coverage looks like. People tend to become more conservative as they get older.

Hah, I just went to see if “Dick” lived up to his name a few seconds before clicking back on FR...

I was with him all the way. I prediced 300EV for Romney. I’ll have mine over easy please....

What we all missed, I think, is how far down the slipper slope we have already come. The white traditionalist American culture we grew up with is a minority now.

Often I figure my analysis of political events is as good as Rush’s. But today I would be sitting in front of an open microphone. I wouldn’t know what to say. So I’m anxious to hear how Rush handles it today.

The Dems have figured out that the POTUS election can be won based on identity politics; appearance, race, gender, and age overcome substance in the age of American Idol.

We need a minority candidate that appeals to minorities and to women. Hillary will likely be the competition, and an old, White guy will not have a chance against her.

I think they knew all along they would win. By kicking out Republican poll watchers, they were able to steal the vote in the key swing states. Fraud was rampant! Same day voter registration along with giving 2 ballots to people voting for this usurper put them over the top!

In Boston they corralled the chinese vote by giving them fake ballots and telling them who to vote for. Obama and Warren.

Those that willingly voted for this disaster deserve what they will get! I am very, very sad!

Take heart FRiend most of us did not realize how far left our nation had and has gone, and the media only served to make the situation worse. Must buck up though. All of us must buck up. I could have easily voted several times at my polling place. The people working the polls were good at checking people in; but once checked in, voters were able to mill about the room before and after voting. No one was paying attention as to who voted and who did not.

“The dems were successful in scaring women away from Romney -that was a big factor.”

That is correct. The Dems resorted to scare tactics (the evils GOP is gonna take away your contraception!) to secure the women’s vote.

On the flip side, we had Senate candidates like Todd Akin and Richard Mourdock who couldn’t keep their foot our of their mouths.

Your post is why I am convinced that we as a nation will hit rock bottom and split into at least two separate nations.

I am also convinced that there will be all the horrors of balkanization including pogroms and mass starvation.

The “takers” are addicted to the “handout heroin” and will NEVER prepare for the day when the assistance stops.

What sane people need to do now is prepare for that day ensuring that the parasites don’t take what is theirs when the collapse comes.

Well we have to do something, because I can’t name one thing we did to court that age group. They obviously don’t care about the economy.

On the upside, they will age over the next 4 years and hopefully some of them will come around to the financial damage being done.

Conservatism is who we are and FR instead embraced a flaming liberal.

The result is right here for all to see.

The whole election doesn’t make sense.

Outrageously lower turnout for the Obama rallies, foreign owned company running voter machines, the mess the country is in, the polls and Benghazi. Add to that Obama’s off the mike remark to Russian President saying he’d have “more flexibility” after the election.

Carl Rove is a smart guy as is Michael Barone. Carl was confounded, as am I, with the county numbers. Today, drudge claims there were 14 million voters less, (even saying McCain got more Repub votes).

I don’t believe it. I’m beginning to think the Dems pulled off the fraud of the century. Nothing makes sense and I’m beginning to believe this whole thing was rigged from the beginning.

GOP convention mistreated the Ron Paul delegates and shun the Evangelical Christians. Ron Paul delegates were so pissed some gave Code Pink activists their Convention Pass, that is a lot of anger. McCain had 60 million votes in 2008, Romney had about 59 million. Someone did stayed home.

I'm not buying it... Obama tallied around 10 million fewer votes than he did in 2008 ... while, at the same time, Mitt managed to underperform McCain.

2012

OBAMA -- 59,651,236
ROMNEY -- 57,028,531

2008

OBAMA -- 69,456,897
MCCAIN -- 59,934,814

Step one is to get rid of Rove, Morris, Rollins and every other "expert consultant" that's been around longer than 10 years and then start over. Their brand of ubiquitous mediocrity has totally outlived its usefulness

The words "trashbin of history" come to mind.

All non-leftist need to find the best ways of living their lives, while, also, ignoring politics, perhaps for the rest of their lives. Only a total collapse of leftist politics and programs will create a re-emergence of a non-leftist political majority. Until then, conservatism will remain as a political minority. Prove me wrong all you want, if it helps to make you feel any better.

Yes those voters are here to stay. The left took the time to seek them out, get them registered, and fire them up to get them to the polls. If we are to have a prayer of electing even a RINO, much less a conservative we will have to do the same. I know there are young people, minorities, and middle class people that are mighty unhappy with Obama and yet they either aren’t registered at all or did not vote. I felt all along that turn out would make us or break us. We need to start working today to make sure that like minded people are encouraged to register and vote or we are doomed. I have already talked to several this morning that are dismayed that Obama won and yet they did NOT vote!!

People have their excuses- moved and didn’t get re-registered, super busy- whatever. We need to start gathering those people up- and many told me the “busy” excuse- traveling- so remember to push absentee voting for those people. People either don’t start the habit of voting when they are young or get lazy about it later on. As I see it the only hope we have is to rally those people.

At this point the Republican party has two choices- gather and rally new voters or pander to those that voted for Obama. To me it seems we need to gather more like minded people and not stop trying to reach those that lean left.

My hubby is a one man “get out the vote” machine- he insisted our daughters register as soon as they were old enough- did whatever it took to get them to the polls- including making a 200+ mile trip for one of our daughters that was away at college and her truck didn’t start on election day one year. He encourages everyone that agrees with him to get registered and vote- he does this all the time. If we all did the same it might save our country.

The market took a steep nose-dive this morning: The people in the traces know what’s happening.
The wagon will soon be grinding to a halt while the Obamas deliver their nanny lectures and enjoy their mega-vacations, and their base will be wondering what hit them.
They deserve what they get and they deserve to get it—good and hard.

“The American Republic will endure until the day Congress discovers that it can bribe the public with the public’s money.” Alexis de Tocqueville

The experiment is over. It failed last night.

THE SECOND COMING

Turning and turning in the widening gyre
The falcon cannot hear the falconer;
Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity.

Surely some revelation is at hand;
Surely the Second Coming is at hand.
The Second Coming! Hardly are those words out
When a vast image out of Spiritus Mundi
Troubles my sight: a waste of desert sand;
A shape with lion body and the head of a man,
A gaze blank and pitiless as the sun,
Is moving its slow thighs, while all about it
Wind shadows of the indignant desert birds.

The darkness drops again but now I know
That twenty centuries of stony sleep
Were vexed to nightmare by a rocking cradle,
And what rough beast, its hour come round at last,
Slouches towards Bethlehem to be born?
