Remember loose lips sink ships!

Ship is already sinking. We need ideas for lifeboats!

My depression era parents’ attitudes are so instilled in me that it makes it hard to throw away things even when I should.

It will probably serve me well here pretty soon.

I’m with you - just got a few acres that we moved on to. Going to get the garden, greenhouse, chickens, etc, set up.
Hoard some commodities, build some “secondary storage”, whatever I have time for.

Meet and make friends with like minded neighbors. You may need to pool your skills in the future.

My PA county (Westmoreland) went 61 to 38 for Romney. Good, strong families and neighbors. We'll get through this.

I am currently in Chemo for stage 4 cancer. I take comfort in that I will most likely die before the Country does.

FYI, Chemo is more fun than it was to watch last night’s results.

Anything we do to put ourselves back in control of our lives will be helpful. There are a lot of ways to try starving the “zombies” but eventually you end up surrounded and embattled unless you address the problems creating the zombies.

The zombies today have been created over a period of at least a few generations. Liberals began their long march through our society from the ground up: through the school boards, the city and county government, the labor unions. The “taker zombies” have been created by the media, the entertainment industry, the “politically correct” churches, the social justice groups. The concept of shame has been erased—unless you dare judge someone else.

So while starving the money zombies is good and I think a good start, it is more important to attack the causes in addition to it is really only the symptom of a societal sickness. That plan of action should begin with looking at ourselves. To what extent do we look the other way as moral sickness spreads through our nation?

Do we wink at or even patronize morally degrading entertainment? Do we ignore the moral failings of an entertainer, an athlete, or artist so we can enjoy the CD, the concert, the movie, the game?

Do we ignore the propagandizing that goes on in our churches, our community organizations, our charities? Do we unheedingly give to charity without a clear idea of how the charity uses the money to help people become self-sufficient instead of dependent?

Do we concur with notions that people should not be expected to face the natural consequences of their voluntary decisions? Do we toss money at the corner begger just to make him or her go away or make ourselves feel self-righteous?

Do we leave our children in public schools where the previous generation of takers is busily creating the next generation of takers?

Do we look the other way at immoral behavior because we don’t want anyone judging us? Do we make a moral equivalence argument by believing that since we are not perfect, we don’t dare judge another?

Do we believe that shame is an outdated concept?

All of these and more need to be addressed before we can truly confront the zombie government. After all, the zombie government obviously reflects the will of the people.

By all means, shield your honest gain as much as legally possible but don’t assume you can hold the fort forever while zombie citizens multiply unchallenged by decent citizens who are willing to stand by their beliefs even at a steep cost to themselves. Until people are willing to say that morality and standards and self-sufficiency are good and right for the nation, and do what they can to demonstrate that by example, the zombies will increase and eventually besiege every redoubt.

Check your 401k.
Some have changed over such that
A) you can’t get anything out while you work for your present employer
B) there is no “cash equivalent” option available
C) the “safest” account in your available portfolio is a government bond or treasury bill

If you follow this, it is a de facto confiscation of your 401k.

These threads are all over the place this morning...we need to 'merge' all these great ideas into a single thread, and make that thread readily accessible.

Quit paying the salaries of the media, ESPECIALLY Fox News; by canceling your cable today. DISH, DIRECT, whatever. Nuke them all.

Make plans to move to a 'red state', ASAP.

Mitt Romney's record of having won just ONE election remains intact. Open primaries strike again...

We need to repent as a Nation and as individuals.

When you figure out how to shelter your finances please let us all know.

Even for people with pensions not funded by government confiscation there is no retirement without a vibrant economy.

They will tax your income, your investments and your property until you can’t afford it and then they will confiscate it for redistribution. Yes, the logical conclusion is that without buyers value will be destroyed but this does not matter to the proletariat in the short term. So long as the checks keep coming.

Start a home Bible Study on a weeknight.

Better to find an existing one and join in.

Barter. Go underground with your economic activity. Don’t get greedy, just do what you have to do to get by and stay under the radar.

I will not spend money on anything extra. I refuse to help the economy.
I will give only to my church and missions.
I will help my kids out rather than have my money sitting in the bank.
I will not support any companies that supported Obama.

Ditto. I will not help the economy any more than I absolutely have to, except for businesses run by people I know and trust as fellow conservatives. K-Mart and Wal-Mart... screw ya.

“FYI, Chemo is more fun than it was to watch last night’s results”

That was the neat thing about last night. I didn’t have a candidate. It was a Democrat with 1 house running against a Democrat with 5 houses. I was just a spectator.

Note: I voted for the 5 house Democrat so don’t blame me.

I think the win even surprised the Democrats. Surprised and slightly disappointed them. They get to catch Hell for another 4 years. 2014 is going to be a major butt-kicking for them, just like 2006 for us.
And you better be here to watch it.

Hear, hear! I'll just have to wait for Seasons 5-7 of Sons of Anarchy to come out on DVD.

If I was able to give up cokes and red meat two weeks ago, I'll survive without cable.

Thank God I live in Texas, the last bastion of freedom in the US. The good news for me last night is "Senator-elect Ted Cruz."

I found it revealing that the coverage focused on Mourdock and Akin, with nary a mention of Cruz's solid victory. I guess it didn't fit the narrative that the Tea Party is dead.

“I feel our 401K will be threatened in the near future as our economy is on a verge of collaspe”

Every once in a while there are rumblings of government confiscating the money in private 401K and retirement accounts in exchange for a “guaranteed” distribution from the govt. Such trial balloons get shot down fairly quickly but I believe in time of crisis they will do it.
