Vanity: You Can't Overcome the MSM

Posted on 11/07/2012 2:30:45 AM PST by Portcall24

When you own the vehicle with which people make decisions you can mold those decisions into the outcome you desire. The vast majority of folks in this Nation never see what's posted on FR. They never have a chance to make a halfway informed decision. So sad.

I don’t think Obama would have hit 35% if the media were actually fair and balanced.

I predicted this would be a referendum on the media and I was right. They still hold sway and all of us that denied that need to wake the eff up.

I'm looking forward to the MSM explaining the $22 Trillion deficit we will have accumulated in the next 4 years.

I wonder if the US will be downgraded to Junk status by then?

The local Fox station (broadcast network is just as liberal as the rest) is probably going to ban me on Facebook after what I am posting right now.

If one half of the 54 million cut the cord, satellite, cable...

They truly are the enemy of our Republic.

This is the unintended consequence of repealing the Fairness Doctrine. Repealing the Fairness Doctrine gave us conservative talk radio. The liberals got everything else, including the MSM.

You can block all their sites. Send emails informing them they have traded their responsibilities for political gain. They are a discrace to the profession and this country.

The media is the problem as well as where people get their news. Because Democrat tv can still exist, but if people were getting the truth from other sources then they would have a clear picture of things. But too many rely on Democrat media. So the media is the number one problem in America with schools being second.

Good for you for standing up for them. My local Fox is actually the only local news I trust in Kansas City. I can’t tell where the anchors lean because they do a good job and use Fox News clips and discuss issues with the Obama presidency like Libya. And the weather people are anti Global warming. But, I know that many on the other channels are die hard liberals.

Obama would never have risen above the status of community organizer IF the media had not aided and abetted him every step of the way. Obama is a LIE created and perpetuated by the MSM; they are the main culprits in all of this.

My local Fox station is shallow and liberal and its owned and operated by Fox not an affiliate.

Most democrats scoff when I mention the power of the MSM bias. They say that the effect would be very small. But thats just it, it only takes a few percent of people (low information voters) to pull an election either way, and its these people who are easily influenced by the MSM. I'd say the pool of this type of voter is probably only 5-10%, but that is more than enough to make a wave.

Here’s the answer to the assertion that the media isn’t powerful.

Tell them if the media (print, electronic) isn’t able to sway hearts and minds, then why do advertisers pay billions of dollars every year to craft and deliver a message about their products and services to potential buyers?

I can’t agree half way. True, the repealing of the fairness doctrine opened the way for conservative talk radio. But the liberals already controlled the media way before the fairness doctrine was repealed. The repeal didn’t change that.

I have to agree. We may snicker all the time about the declining ratings of the news media, but when it comes down to it, the msm still holds a very powerful sway in keeping the electorate ignorant, mis informed as well as uninformed.
