HUH?

Are you an idiot? Protestant Hispanics are voting to the right of Catholic people and the wealthy, and you don’t want to find out why, and use it?

I am surrounded by hispanics here in CA and am married to one. I know of what I speak probably far more than you think I do.
Most latinos come here honestly to get on our social programs. So what party allows almost all on the dole and looks the other way when it comes to illegals?

Even my wife who talks conservative wants all these social saftey nets due to lots of her family being out of work often.
IMO residents who can’t support themselves need to be shown the door home, but that’s another story.

Silver and the MSM were right.

After bashing Romney for months and praising Obama for months, the mainstream media creates a self-fulfilling prophecy that gives Obama four more years. The MSM's biased coverage was probably worth billions of dollars, but Obama got it all for free. The MSM allowed Romney to have only 1 good night in the entire campaign. That was the first debate, which they couldn't hide from the American people. The rest of the MSM's coverage was a never-ending pro-Obama informercial that will continue for 4 more years.

A lot of these pundits have destroyed their credibility in this election cycle. I’m looking forward to the day Karl Rove and Dick Morris vanish from the airwaves forever.

I agree. What the hell happened to the (formerly) great Michael Barone? He predicted a huge Romney blow-out as well (300+ EVs?). Perhaps it's time for Barone to retire...

I live in a world of Hispanics as well, it has nothing to do with the voting data.

Hispanics that are “protestant” are about a 50/50 republican vote.

Nope, not wrong. Eventually, there will be a time where 100% of the white vote wont be enough. It isnt all about amnesty, its about first acknowledging they exist, and then explaining why our philosophy is better for them. You dont have to win 50%, even...just enough to take out the Rat advantage. W did this, and won 2 elections in this same electorate.

Good gosh man, think!

When you have an identifiable group of a demographic, voting republican, then examine it, analyze it, find out why, and then try to learn how to use it with the other portion of the demographic.

Quit thinking in terms of race, or “Hispanic” when you find out that they are not all the same.

He was going with the data we had at the time. Remember Ras and Gallup had a + 5/6 R electorate...well, that was a complete fantasy. If Romney wouldve got the 59 million votes McCain got, he would be the next president. All the talk about the Republican excitement, and yet their turnout sucked.

In fact, what thell happened inOhio...I thought the EV was close enough that if Romney got the election day turnout that McCain got, he would win. Well, I guess he didnt get the McCain turnout, another reason why I think the ground game was crap tonight.

Me quit thinking in terms of race? You brought it up. You started this with "Hispanics...". This is toyr topic. I am responding to you here.

I suspect you will find that the are the percentage you speak of are willing the Hispanics who vote values over gimmes. I bet they are also not immigrants, but were born here.

I bet that the vast majority of Hispanics voting Dem today are immigrants (lived in Mexico and came here). To them, our gimmes are a paradise. Why do ex-pats talk about how cheaply they can retire south of the border? Because the economy is worlds' different. That is their world view. Welfare is a lottery payout level score for them in comparision to their homeland.

I am afraid the two parts of this deomgraphic are much like the two parts of the other demographics. Think you are going to sway the white liberals by understanding why conservatism appeals to me?

Look at those three guys and watch the crowd at obamas victory speech.... we are no longer a majority traditionalist, white, European culture. The GOP needs to wrap itself around a more varying base....

Exactly right. I'll continue to listen to Rush, but we also need a younger, Latino (Spanish speaking) powerhouse conservative like Rush Limbaugh out there to change hearts and minds.

The GOP has been forever talking about "reaching out" more to minorities, young people and women, but when the heck will they ever do it? The time to do it was yesterday...

Also... I just asked this on another thread: WHY do Asian-Americans always seem to vote for democRATs? Logically they should be self-reliant Republicans. I don't get it...

Maybe by a third generation if most are not connected to government employment or the dole.

You really don’t understand that Hispanics who are PROTESTANT Christians, are about 50/50 republican, versus the Hispanics who are Catholic Christians, or non-Christians?

Quit thinking in blanket terms of race or “Hispanic” and ask yourself what makes an Hispanic who becomes Protestant, a republican?

Is there anything useful to conservatives in that information.

Again Huh?

What is going on in your head? We already know how Protestant Hispanics vote, we have the data from at least 2000, 2004, and 2008.

Republicans won 56% of the protestant Hispanic vote in 2004, and 48% in 2008, they are to the right of the total Catholic voters and the wealthy.

Yes, I really, really do understand. Your goal is to target 15.5% of the Hispanic vote. Do you think that is the best use of resources? If you turned 100% of the Protestant Hispanic vote into 100% republican voters, do you think you would have changed even one race result today?

You don’t understand anything.

To quote my post “”When you have an identifiable group of a demographic, voting republican, then examine it, analyze it, find out why, and then try to learn how to use it with the other portion of the demographic.””.

Romney's Ohio "ground game": This is perhaps anecdotal... my husband and I put in several hours at the Columbus, OH Romney HQ and call center on Saturday, Nov. 3rd. Supposedly this was one of the big Romney HQs in Ohio. There were a few phones (surprisingly not a lot), with a wonderful bunch of older people - very committed to a Romney-Ryan win - working the phones diligently.

A very young woman campaign worker (or volunteer?) spent about 2 seconds "training" us on how to use the phone. We were supposed to ask targeted questions and punch in answers which would help with the GOTV effort on election day. The girl glossed over the fine points of working this computerized GOTV system. After about an hour, I finally figured out by myself how to work the system properly - she definitely failed in properly instructing us - it wasn't particularly user-friendly.

This young woman didn't know what time the polls closed on November 6th in Ohio when I asked her (so I could be accurate when talking to voters). She told me 7pm - turns out it was 7:30pm. (We live in CT, we don't know what time polls close in OH)

There was a big Ohio State vs Illinois football game going on while we were making calls. There was a room filled with young guys who were relaxing and watching the game for hours... they weren't doing any work. I think these guys were Romney staffers - not volunteers. Remember this is three days before the election.

I'm not saying these people lost the race in OH for Romney... but there wasn't a lot of hard work going on at that call center *except* by the hard-working, mostly "older" volunteers working the phones during the time we put in at that HQ that particular day. Three days before the election.

Speaking for what I see and hear regarding our Hispanics in CA. They contribute in a mighty way to our 30% of the country’s welfare. They are busy also filing false tax returns for thousands and the ones out here refuse to vote Republican over family members need of the government party’s social safety nets and desire to give amnesty.

I don’t know where these gazillions you speak of are, but they are not anywhere to see here in CA.

My own wife is a first generation whose mother came here under the Reagan amnesty. Of course her mom still thirty years later can’t speak English.
My wife is the only one working that can feed herself among the 8 or so from her family that are now residents or citizens. IMO she out earns the whole rest of the family combined and I assure you they try and get rent money and every penny she has if they could for themselves.
They came here because when you are poor in Mexico there is nothing, when you come to America there is our dole (treasury).

Like I said, don’t know about these large numbers of Hispanic voters out there, I sure don’t think I’ve seen that many in CA.

What demographic? What portion? You are not being clear. How can anyone understand?

Are you talking about getting the other 50% of protestants, or getting some of the non-protestants? Saying "other portion" is ambigous since you refer to "Hispanics" as a demographic and "protestant Hispanic" as a demographic.

Other portion of what, exactly?
