Well, I've watched the election all year, and predicted a defeat for the Democrats and a repudiation of the last four years. I have to admit that I called it wrong and Obama has been re-elected.
It turns out that Romney was right all along: 47% of the country is just "gone", given over to the takers and "looters" as Ayn Rand described it so precisely 50 years ago. Obama knit together a coalition of union thugs, marxist regulators, affirmative action winners, a corrupt media, sixties throwbacks, illegal aliens, race hustlers, and the young and impressionable. I guess congratulations are in order.
For 225 years or so, the USA really was the land of the free and the home of the brave, but that country that we all grew up in is gone: it is now in the same pantheon as ancient Greece and glorious Rome. Like very few countries in history, we have voted for our own demise and dictatorship.
I know the gleeful Obama voters that read this will just consider it to be sour grapes, and I suppose it is. Bitter? You bet.
I won't live long enough to see the totality of the gray, bleak future, but my kids will: they already owe tens of thousands in federal debt, and my grandchildren will suffer even more.
Remember all this country had accomplished and what it once meant to the world: The first modern democracy where the individual ruled, the country that sacrificed the lives of close to 700,000 citizens in a bloody civil war to right the wrong of slavery, the country that twice went to war to salvage the corrupt European political culture, that fought and won the cold war, that grew a prosperous middle class like had never been seen before.
All gone now: get ready for the new normal... My fellow citizens have decided that a pompous and inconsequential narcissist should have his four years of failure rewarded with four more years to accomplish his goal of destroying a once great nation.

We’ll know soon enough if your pessimism is warranted. The fiscal cliff looms and both parties MUST compromise - on taxes and spending. If they don’t, then you’ll stand correct.
The country has fundamentally changed. We are no longer the majority, and the majority does not have our vision of what America should be.
Obama will treat this as a mandate, and I can’t really fault him for that. The percentage of registered voters that actually cast a ballot is pathetic, and it is the old school conservatives that didn’t vote.
Time to get hip and learn to get along with the next generation.
I’m 50, and I have a 7 year-old Daughter. I shudder to think what this election means for her and her generation. It grieves me to watch the ignorance of voters plunge this once-great nation into the abyss.

Get out of here with that. Nobody in the field this year would have done better against obama. Santorum would have been painted as wanting to kill women, Gingrich would have been painted as absolutely corrupt. Obama has the media on his side and it’s a huge weapon.

I’m gonna watch “The Lord of the Rings” trilogy over the next few days, and turn off news and talk radio. I’m gonna dig deeper into my Bible, put mulch in my flower beds, get down my Christmas stuff and start planning my holidays. Yes, I’m going to “pretend” the world is not crashing down around me.
Recommend you find a way to alleviate stress, get some rest, and refocus on what’s really important. That’s what I’m gonna do...maybe for the next 4 years! :)
1) How’d we do in the states?
2) Build the state and local tea party groups.
3) Fight the federal takeover at the state level on a tenth amendment basis.
4) The Constitution still stands as the law of the land.
5) Fight for it like banshees.
6) Do or die.

I’ve been pretty accurate for the last few years. I predicted a big McCain loss in 2008, and thought Romney had a 50% chance tonight. At last check, Romney was getting 50.05% of the vote...so it appears I can prognosticate with the best of them.

I'd have thought so, but then I thought he was in for an historic ass kicking tonight, so maybe not. Maybe they'll think they made the right choice.
There is some truth to that and it is a big challenge however one thing you missed is that Romney is a loser. He was a very weak candidate.

I'm 51. I have a 10 year old and 14 year old daughter. I feel the same way.
Interstingly, Georgia ended up being just as much of a swing state as Iowa, Nevada, Wisconsin, or Pennsylvania.
53% Romney, 46% Obama.

The Vote for the House tells you what the public opinion really is, but if you don't have a smart enough candidate out there, with some real core beliefs that meet their expectations, then he loses!@
This failure also unleashes EPA on all of us ~ I will have to spend tomorrow organization the HOA regarding how we harvest the trees so that we have enough firewood to make it through the winter ~ we all have fireplaces around here for just such a contingency.
The gist of what Romney said was accurate, but it was technically wrong enough that it cost him dearly, and it was run nonstop here in FL, and I'm sure in other swing states.
Some of those people in that 47% that it was "not his job to worry about" were not welfare state sponges. They are retirees, dependents, etc.

He knew he was our weakest candidate.
He was the strongest, best candidate we could have put forward. But, you simply do not understand the power of the democrat party...their media distorts and hides the truth...it does influence most people, they have controlled the immoral education of our children for several decades now so if we state that homosexual marriage is wrong...it is us who are the bigots depriving homosexuals of their “civil rights”. America is dead...tonight was the final funeral. We had been sick for along time, but tonight was a turning point that we cannot go back from. Democrats will now consolidate their power base even more...they will take over the private sector industry with even more oppressive regulation and taxation...you don’t have to own the deed if you are government to steal the property...you regulate and tax it to death. They will legalize homosexual marriage and have enough supreme court justices to back them up as constitutional...now the real reason they back gay marriages has nothing to do with gay rights...it has to do with destroying Christian Churches. Their contraceptive issue is the same. They will use these tactics with much more force now and truly oppress Christian worship. This is not just losing an election, we lost America. She is dead, you will not be able to restore her next election or three elections from now.

I just moved to rural Kentucky last year from 45 years in Seattle. Love it. You can live on so little income here that you will not be nearly as attacked as those that need to make six figures just to keep their houses in places like Seattle.
Seriously. And it is an incredible place to live if you like living off the land and your own garden, chickens, etc. We’ve been here over a year and LOVE it.

Imagine if you were a Democrat in 2004. You felt Bush stole the election in 2000, you think he’s really dumb and now you find out that he’s re-elected. But then you “move on” and get the candidate of your dreams. We have to think like that Democrat during the next few years.
What is overlooked by many on this site, is that Americans laid off, still are Americans. They still vote, and if pushed they will vote against other Americans.
We have spent the entire most recent generation, eliminating American work.
Eliminating American jobs. The reason we are at 8% unemployment is ... we have hired a bunch of Chinese to build things.
Thing we re-import into America for cheap, except they’re not quite as cheap as they were. Funny about how that works.
We need to hire those Americans, and get rid of global trade which is not balanced with opportunities.
We need to DISCOURAGE international trade, and build America again.
Discourage it with laws. Balance international trade.

The solution is not political.
No, I’m not suggesting violence. Rather, I’m hunkering down. I will not vote again for a long time. I did it against my better judgement in 2008 and again in 2012. The problem will solve itself.
Just as the problem of ancient Rome did. I need not lift a finger, though I’m glad my hens are laying and our driveway is 1/4 mile long through thick woods.

That is exactly the fight I am fighting. I’ve gone more and more Galt every month for two years now.
I’m in a small band where one member grows ALL the food his family eats. From pigs, to corn, to tomatoes to sorghum. All of it.
And they use solar power for almost all their electricity, including the well pump.
