U.S. House: Keith Rothfus unseats Mark Critz (GOP House Gain)

Former Jack Murtha aide Congressman Mark Critz has lost to GOP challenger Keith Rothfus in the redrawn 12th District of Western PA.

Rothfus was helped with support from the Club for Growth which contributed 300-thousand dollars in advertising support to his candidacy.

Keith is a political outsider in the Republican Party who defeated the party's handpicked candidate in the 2010 primary for the 4th Congressional District.

He lost in the 2010 General Election to Democrat Jason Altmire by a close 51-49 margin.

This year the 4th District was eliminated and Rothfus's home was drawn by the GOP Establishment into the 14th District.

Governor Tom Corbett tried to sell GOP State House Whip Mike Turzai into the race as a handpicked candidate, but Turzai refused.

Meanwhile, Rothfus moved into the new 12th District and took on Critz after he defeated Almtire in the Democrat primary.

A real conservative, pro-life outsider Keith Rothfus won a race for Republican Party tonight.

Some food for thought.

I was so proud to have supported Keith Rothfus in 2010 and this year with my contributions.

Congratulations, Keith.

I was a poll watcher for Keith in 2010. I’m glad he’ll be my congressman, but I know it won’t make a damn bit of difference in the end.

Maybe if we had an entire House full of Keith Rothfuses...

Great job Keith!! I really cringed when watching that commercial that had him mowing the lawn but you pulled it off. I’m just so glad he got rid of that Murtha crony Critz. Now all the stench of John Murtha is gone from politics....

Down ticket seems to be the only place we can beat the GOPe at the moment. Next step is to get our Quisling stae GOP's scalp. We p*ssed away a near certain 12 electoral votes and possibly as many as 15 when Chairman Gleason strong-armed the legislature into not passing the same allocation plan used in Maine and Nebraska (2 for the statewide winner, 1 for each congressional district) last fall. Our GOP senate majority ruler had introduced it, our governor had pledged to sign it and we had respectable majorities in both houses of the legislature until Gleason sabotaged it.

This entire presidential election might have turned had the RAT machine been forced to commit more resources to Pennsylvania from the get-go.

Instead, we got a toothless voter ID law as a booby prize which was suspended by one fudgepacker judge.
