Many voters still lay blame for bad economy on George W. Bush

Rising prices and chronic unemployment were heavy on the minds of voters Tuesday even as a glimmer of optimism peeked through. Four in 10 said the nation’s battered economy is getting better.

Most everyone agreed there’s still far to go. They were less likely to blame President Barack Obama for the economic troubles, however, than to point the finger at his predecessor, George W. Bush, according to preliminary results of a national exit poll.

Only a fourth thought they were better off financially than four years ago when Obama was elected. Voters were most likely to say their families were doing about the same. A third felt worse off.

Bush's liberal policies (huge deficits, easy home loans) tanked the economy, and allowed Obama to get elected. And this year, Obama laid the blame on "conservative" policies of the past -- even though it was Bush's LIBERAL policies that brought on the crash. So Bush got us coming and going.

And if Obama wins, they’ll still be blaming Bush for the next four years.

george w. who? Obama has had plenty of time to fix things, but he made the economy much, much worse. Thinking he can still fix anything is ignorant.

Romney didn’t do a good job of defending this, when Obama himself in the first debate said it was the housing bubble...

Easy credit was pushed by both parties as far back as the Carter administration. Bush’s deficits were child’s play compared to Obama’s. Essentially you’re saying that American voters are irrational and ignorant ... and you’re right.

It’s amazing what a political party can do when they OWN the news media.

Just talked to my Democrat schoolteacher sister tonight. When I said I thought we would be in a depression in two years if Obama wins another term, she just said ‘Well, we wouldn’t be if Congress would get out of the way.’

That’s how delusional these people are. I am so depressed.

I hope America enjoys 4 more years of recession/depression which the media will call a “sluggish recovery” and “the new normal.” After all, they voted for it today.

Will the American electorate still think it’s “Bush’s fault” in 2016? Or will we be too busy just trying to stay alive under crushing taxes and regulation, Obamacare mandates, and hyperinflation to care whose damn fault it is?

Too many morons in this country are clueless about the economy. They just want their freebies. That’s what this is all about. The Revenge of the Turds. I see a lot of layoffs coming between now and Christmas.

People understand sports analogies.

If a football coach is a perennial loser for 2 seasons, can he blame the coach before him (without getting laughed at?)

FDR blamed Hoover for four straight elections. Then he passed the baton to Truman, who kept on blaming Hoover

If Obama wins, there are some people I won’t even be speaking with any longer, and there will be a certain radio station I will no longer listen to because it’s full of Obama-assisting Libertarians. That’s just how it will be.

The fix was in. We heard Obama’s mic slip-up while talking a few months ago to the Russians.

No way to beat a fixed election.

That’s my conclusion.

Romney didn’t do a good job of defending this

Romney did just fine defending traditional American values. Twelve years ago, he would have won big.

Where Romney went wrong was with the 47%. He -- and *all of us* -- failed to recognize that *we* are the 47%, and *they* are the 53%. The takers now outnumber the makers. It's official.

How the minority of we producers now throw off the yoke of servitude, is an open question. And one that we must all seriously consider.

The fact that SHE’S a “teacher” is the crux of the problem.

Sorry, but I hope her 401k and pension is “nationalized” by her hero.

We have lost the country. Period.

Not sure how we get it back. It may be gone forever.

Bush and Rove won two elections but they destroyed the Republican Party in the process.
