Evening, AZ, Kathy.

Damn. I wanted a new president for my birthday.

(BTW, I’m an open-faced sandwich. Right now, I feel like a stale loaf.)

From Head To Heart

November 7, 2012

My childhood piano teacher was a stickler for memorization. Being able to play a piece without error was not enough. I had to play several pieces flawlessly by memory. Her reasoning was this: She didn’t want her students to say, when asked to play, “I’m sorry, I don’t have my music with me.”

As a child, I also memorized Bible passages, including Psalm 119:11. Due to my limited understanding, I believed that simple memorization would keep me from sin. I worked hard at memorizing verses, and I even won a Moody Bible Story Book as an award.

Although memorizing the Bible is a good habit to develop, it’s not the act of memorizing that keeps us from sin. As I learned soon after my winning efforts, having the words of Scripture in my head made little difference in my behavior. In fact, instead of victory over sin, knowledge alone generated feelings of guilt.

Eventually I realized that the Word of God had to spread through my whole being. I needed to internalize Scripture, to hide it “in my heart” the way a musician does a piece of music. I had to live the Bible as well as I could quote it. As God’s Word spreads from our heads to our hearts, sin loses its power over us.

O Lord, my God, may Your Word become so
much a part of me that obedience comes
naturally and cheerfully from my heart.
Change me andmold me into Your image.
Let God’s Word fill your memory, rule your heart,
and guide your life.

Your Word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You. —Psalm 119:11

WELCOME TO THE
FR CANTEEN
(where our troops, allies and their families can refresh themselves)

Good morning, Everyone. Good morning to our

AWESOME

Military, our Allies, and their families.

Thank you, Ma/Connie, for preparing the Canteen for today’s activities.

Our local DC Metroland weather report

~ Today...Windy. Mostly cloudy skies with a few rain
or snow showers this afternoon.
High 43F. Winds N at 15 to 25 mph.
Chance of rain 50%.

~ Tonight... Windy with snow showers this evening
becoming more scattered later. Low 33F.
Winds NNW at 15 to 25 mph. Chance of snow 60%.
A slushy accumulation of less than one inch.

You Are Reasonable
You're the type of person who makes sound and logical decisions. You are very down to earth.
You're a bastion of sanity in this insane world, and people know that they can count on you.

You aren't likely to get swept away in the moment. You have both feet firmly planted on the ground.
You are modest and humble. You always keep your ego in check and sometimes wonder why others can't do the same!
The Sandwich Test

Okay, I know we are politically correct in the Canteen,
but I just have to say how disappointed and disgusted I am
not only over the Presidential election
but what Marylanders have done to our state.
I won't go to Canada
but I gotta figure out how to move to a red state!

So, needless to say I am NOT in a good mood today.

But, please stay right where you are.
Keep the troops and their families entertained.

The Canteen is

Come on in and sit for a while.
There's always plenty of coffee, tea,
pancakes, conversation, silliness,
and plain old BS

REMEMBER THEM ~ DEFENDERS OF FREEDOM
