I have heard that many of the cast have agreed to forego salary in exchange for a share of the profit (if any) from the movie.

More employers should take the time to explain the basic lessons of economics to their employees. This could help our chances of recovering the America that should be.

we realize that a world in which we’re only thinking about ourselves and not thinking about anybody else … is a pretty narrow vision.” – President Barack Obama

Egoism - 1) man is the proper beneficiary of his own actions
2) man is an end in himself and not the means to the ends of others or society
3) man exists for his own sake and is not a sacrificial animal that exists for the sake of others or society
4) man is neither an altruist nor a subjectivistic egoist
Selfishness – man is concerned about his own true interests
Individualism - man is a sovereign individual over and above society which is a means to the fulfillment of the ends of the individual.

In a free society with a rational culture and a just government, egoism, selfishness, and individualism are parts of the foundation of a modern proper system of division of labor. The extensive division of labor is necessary for the process of production which is necessary for the production of wealth which is one of the real goods necessary for happiness.

Since Adam Smith, it has been known that if individuals rationally seek to do good for themselves, each of them can in fact achieve his good. And in a division of labor capitalist society, in the very nature of the process, in seeking his own good, the individual promotes the good of others, whose self-interested actions likewise promote the achievement of his good.

Or take each one, individually, and hand them their gross pay in cash.
Count it out to them, say thanks for your weeks work.

Then proceed to take - one by one - all the deductions that YOU are required to withhold from the persons check.

This is only secondary to having each employee PAY his own deductions, but we all know that ‘aint gonna fly’.

People realize that the deductions come out, BUT when they actually see the $1500.00 in cash and watch it slowly dwindle down to the $1000.00 take home pay. (amounts for example only, no actually ‘math’ involved <:)

Almost makes one want to go home, sit on duff and collect, unemployment and all the other goodies, including a FREE phone etc etc etc....

Rand's key point, I think. Good comment.

Not to mention the FICA and FUTA taxes, health insurance and other employee benefits that come out of the employer’s paycheck.

Sorry, thought I said ALL deductions......

Yes, it is a ‘rude awakening.

Two worst things for a kid straight out of the house.
That toilet paper doesn't grown on that thingy in the bathroom and that ‘great job’ for 300 per week doesn't look so good when you walk away with 200 or so bucks instead of the 300 ‘promised’ you.
