Relax. Even if Maryland votes 95-5 for Obama, they can’t give him more than 5 electoral votes.
Yes, I was born in a hospital in Baltimore city and then raised in Carroll County, just a couple miles from the Mason-Dixon line.
I now live in Missouri, but I do miss Maryland’s seafood! I recently went back there for a friends’ wedding and I could not believe the liberalism, the traffic and just plain craziness. Where I grew up is NOTHING like it was when I grew up.
Laurel is located in 3 counties, Prince Georges, Anne Arundel, and Howard. The city proper is in PG. So, it depends which area..it’s quite diverse.

We went around 10.30 this morning, and our little polling place was pretty busy — busier than I have ever seen in the 7 years we have lived here. The election judge that I chatted with said that they had been very busy ever since they had opened, which was at 8, I think.
I am really not sure what to make of this info, especially since the Rats outnumber us in my county, Kent.
There needs to be strong turnout in most of the state to override the liberals in Baltimore City, Prince George’s County & Montgomery County.

I was also born in Baltimore City — at Franklin Square Hospital during the Post-War Baby Boom. (There is a Franklin Square Hospital in Baltimore County now.) I grew up in Baltimore County.

Where I live it’s 50/50. Where my church is in South Laurel, it’s 90% black. Overall, it may be 40% white.

I voted at 7:45am this morning in the mostly red North Carroll area of MD. All the polling stations stayed filled, but there was no line at all. Fastest I ever got in & out of voting in 22 years here. I chalk it up to either early voting taking the load off, or conservatives who figure it doesn’t matter how they vote in a deep blue state, so why bother. Who knows.
We live in the northern tip of Montgomery County Maryland, just outside DC As usual, VERY few Dem yard signs in our town of about 18,000 ever -- conservative enclave in liberal county. This year Romney signs all over the place...virtually every house.
Lived here 25+ years and EVERY election in past no lines to vote...we usually just walk right in, vote, and leave in 5 minutes. Always go to polls about 9 AM just after people who vote before going to work are gone.
THIS year -- temps in the low 30s (much colder than ever before (in my memory) -- the line was out the door and down the road -- took 2+ hours to vote.
IOW, the majority republicans who live here know that MD will go democratic and usually don't vote -- yet they showed up in HUGE numbers nonetheless THIS TIME...for the FIRST TIME.
Tells me the enthusiasm to vote republican -- even if unlikely to go our way in our state -- is OFF THE CHART!
MD has 10 EV’s.
Oh fark, you’re right. Well Obama was going to get this state regardless.
If all you care about is the presidential race, perhaps. Believe it or not, there are other races and issues that draw Republicans/conservatives to the polls in Maryland and blue states, so turnout percentage most certainly does make a difference.
I prefer to express it as “if we are in any doubt as to the outcome in Maryland, Romney’s already winning in a landslide nationally”
