UM....Lord of the Rings is by J.R.R. Tolkein, not C.S. Lewis....
“Stand and face the enemy. Then reverse and bend over in defiance and lift your kilts to show the enemy their due. Reverse again and advance, bringing hell down upon them and their pitiful and worthless lot.”
Excellent words for today! Thank you.
(But I think Tolkein and not Lewis gets the credit.)
Thanks for that.
I pray that tomorrow we can say:
This day does not belong to one Man but to All.
Let us together rebuild this World,
That we may share in the
Days of Peace...
Love this quote, and since Lewis and Tolkein were friends, maybe it was Lewis who came up with it originally. ;o)
great !!!!
My wife and I have a ritual marathon viewing in the gloom of winter each year. This year it will be even more special, either way.
“Sam: It’s like in the great stories Mr. Frodo, the ones that really mattered. Full of darkness and danger they were, and sometimes you didn’t want to know the end because how could the end be happy? How could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad had happened? But in the end it’s only a passing thing this shadow, even darkness must pass. A new day will come, and when the sun shines it’ll shine out the clearer. Those were the stories that stayed with you, that meant something even if you were too small to understand why. But I think Mr. Frodo, I do understand, I know now folk in those stories had lots of chances of turning back, only they didn’t. They kept going because they were holding on to something.
Frodo: What are we holding onto, Sam?
Sam: That there’s some good in the world, Mr. Frodo, and it’s worth fighting for.”
The sky is just beginning to lighten as I write this. It will be a day we will never forget - the day we held the line, or saw our country overrun. I believe we will hold, and live to press the fight forward again over ground surrendered in the past. I am happy to be here among you, side by side, on this day
NOT THIS DAY!!!
thank you for posting this

May the heros of Benghazi be proud of how we vote today.
They gave their lives for us, now we need to give our votes for them.
Vote as if the lives of our Military Men and Women depended on it.
“May God have mercy upon my enemies, because I won’t.”

“If you are going to win any battle, you have to do one thing. You have to make the mind run the body. Never let the body tell the mind what to do... the body is never tired if the mind is not tired.”
-General George S. Patton
I’m a bit more pessimistic about the election so I’m thinking of Theoden’s speech: “Where is the horse and the rider? Where is the horn that was blowing? They have passed like rain in the mountains, like wind in the meadow. The days have gone down in the West, behind the hills, into shadow. How did it come to this?”.
