We're particularly interested in the turnout at more democratic precincts in NOVA (Northern Virginia).
I had a two hour wait in line here in Va. Beach. Long line but not even close to the lines of 2008.
My retired military buddy and his wife voted in Stafford County this AM and said it looked like a normal turnout. But... admitted that this was the first time they voted there so didn’t have anything to compare it with. Said there was about 30 people in front of him when they first opened the doors. In and out with no problems.
I live in a little place called Pulaski. We are so small we have 3 districts that vote at one location. I was THRILLED to walk up and find Morgan Griffiths (Congress candidate) greeting us in line. Said he would be there ALL DAY. He spoke to my husband and I for a couple minutes. I was pleased to meet him.
That said our lines were about a 30 minute wait. We got there shortly after 6am.
Onto another subject I observed a little old lady came in wearing a bright red OBAMA hat, an Obama shirt, and carrying a bag with a photo of Obama on it. I thought you couldn’t display that stuff inside where people are voting? OH well...she was old and whatever. Wouldn’t have changed anyone’s mind. I wore RED since I was voting for a red-blooded American for President :>)
We are in rural central Virginia. My husband is off today and just left to go vote (I’ll go later).
Normally, at our voting place, there are no lines. At most, I might have to wait for one person to vote ahead of me, but usually I can just walk right up to the voting machine. Hubby just called and said the place is absolutely packed, with a long line. That’s a first.
7AM Hour and fifteen min wait in Va Beach precinct that usually trends GOP.(55%-60%) Poll worker said I was lucky I wasnt here when the polls opened at 6AM because the lines were a lot longer then
Additionally, I saw nothing whatever that looked like shenanigans- and I was all eyeballs looking. My voter ID card was checked and my identity diligently confirmed. I checked and rechecked my choices- nothing amiss there.
There was a positive mood to the whole thing, friendly chat between obvious supporters of different candidates.
I had some friendly rivalry banter with a guy handing out GOP literature in a retired Navy baseball cap (he saw my USMC badge neck lanyard) and we both went away laughing.
Long wait in the cold, but a good experience.
May the heros of Benghazi be proud of how we vote today.
They gave their lives for us, now we need to give our votes for them.
Vote as if the lives of our Military Men and Women depended on it.
Waited about 50 minutes in a 75+ - deep line in (R+6) Gloucester County, VA. GC is good to go... in 2008, we supported McCain over Obooger by 63% - 36%.
The heroes of Benghazi were the people foremost in my thoughts this morning, as were the thirteen adults and one unborn child murdered by the terrorist traitor at Fort Hood three years ago yesterday. My vote was in all of their honor, and I pray they will be permitted to one day see the justice they deserve.
Got to my polling place (Jim Moron territory - mis-spelling intentional) at 5:30 this morning. About 75 people already ahead of me. Same time back in ‘08, there were 200+ ahead of me.
Took about 1.5 hours to vote. Ratio of R volunteers to D volunteers was about 2-to-1, which in my area seemed to be a good sign. Saw the Republican poll watcher, same fellow as in ‘08. I thanked him, he smiled and said “Glad to do my job.”
Wythe county, Rural Retreat: 0600 the line was long, in fact the largest crowd I’ve seen ready to vote so early. I was #3 and I know how the first 3 voted=Romney
Voted in Fredericksburg at 0900 at Hugh Mercer Elementary School.
Was in line for 35 minutes. My vote was number 697. Heavy turnout, very diverse. My first presidential election here, so I can’t compare to other years.
Some moron left a campaign leaflet for the Dem congressional candidate in my booth. Handed it to an election official who didn’t want to take from me.
Polls opened at 6 AM and my wife and I arrived at 6:35 AM. There were about 150+ people in line ahead of us and we waited outside in 27 degree weather for about 15 minutes.
This was the longest line I have seen since I was stationed here in 1992 and started voting in 1996. There were many minorities in line while we were there but it was around the time many folks were getting ready to go to work. So many people here go to work at 4 AM I hope the conservatives rebound when they get back from work and then vote.
Stafford County is/was a solid conservative county but the past several years have seen an influx of leftists moving here because we used to have low property values and great schools. I still think we will go Romney, but not in the percentages we used to.
Is that not as it should be? I thought jury duty was a civic responsibility. If you don’t want to miss “The View” then why be allowed to vote?
I've been working with the Romney campaign in Tidewater for a couple of months. Chances are good that if you voted in a GOP primary somebody knocked on your door and/or left literature at your door. The Romney campaign haad the best GOTV and canvassing effort I've ever seen in VA.
My wife and I love Claytor lake.
Fairfax City: The voting line was long and mostly old white folks like myself. Only 2 folks had a blue voter card. I am praying.
