Obama Campaign to Supporters: Don’t Panic Over Early Exit Polls

In a conference call this afternoon, President Barack Obama’s re-election campaign had one central message for their supporters when Election Day arrives tomorrow: They should “keep calm,” even if they hear snippets of information favoring Republican Mitt Romney.

“My warning, we need to stay calm for much of the day,” Stephanie Cutter, Mr. Obama’s deputy campaign manager, said, touting thousands of early ballots already submitted by voters. “We’ve already banked a pretty big portion of our vote.”

The fear, she explained, was early numbers leaking before voters have finished going to the polls, creating unnecessary panic and pessimism among Democrats.

Democrats will find a way to bring into existence the votes they need. That is why they say don’t worry.

And I'll add, don't rejoice too soon, either.

Want to see something rather soothing? Have a look at Lea Lane's "election celebration" articles over on HuffPo. She wrote one in 2008 and another one last month. Compare and contrast!

Ignore Obama. Panic at election poll results. Run around like chickens with your heads cut off and call your friends and relatives who haven’t voted and tell them it’s no use, stay home, all is lost.

The strange thing is I am close to a local Obama headquarters. The parking lot is empty. No teams of people coming in from New York as in the past.
Where do you live (state)?

Omg, in 2004 exit polls TERRIFIED the Republicans, and we won in the end. Exit polls always look worse for us...

...if they are warning their side about exit polls, they KNOW what the Drudge headlines are going to be tomorrow:

“Republicans turning up in record numbers”

C’mon Republicans! Let’s bring this like it’s never been brought before!!

Expect LA, Detroit, Chicago and Cleveland to be burned to the ground by Wednesday morning.

Not sure what I think, though I’ll be in Ohio all day Electioneering.

Nate Silver’s updated numbers say Obama Blowout, 91% chance to win.
PPP calls for an Obama Blowout.
Intrade is 67.8% Obama wins

I can’t believe, after everything we’ve been through in the last four years, that people would be stupid enough to vote for Obama again.

But then, no one ever went broke betting against the stupidity of the sheeple, have they.

reince priebus explained it best. The dems got their reliable voters to do so early. The reps concentrated on getting their less reliable voters out to vote early.

Stay calm Obamaites. This will be a vertical incision from the base of the throat down to the top of your privates. You are now ready for the grill spit.

That’s EXACTLY what I was thinking.
They gotta find out how many votes they need to “find”.

Here is the key phrase from Stephanie:

"We’ve already banked a pretty big portion of our vote.”

This is a damning admission that means they've already banked a lot of what they are going to get, and they are not nearly far enough ahead to make up for the turn-out advantage that the Romney supporters are going to display tomorrow.

This makes me very happy to hear.

“We’ve already banked a pretty big portion of our vote.”

Can anyone tell me what she might mean by that?
