Obama Campaign to Supporters: Don’t Panic Over Early Exit Polls

In a conference call this afternoon, President Barack Obama’s re-election campaign had one central message for their supporters when Election Day arrives tomorrow: They should “keep calm,” even if they hear snippets of information favoring Republican Mitt Romney.

“My warning, we need to stay calm for much of the day,” Stephanie Cutter, Mr. Obama’s deputy campaign manager, said, touting thousands of early ballots already submitted by voters. “We’ve already banked a pretty big portion of our vote.”

The fear, she explained, was early numbers leaking before voters have finished going to the polls, creating unnecessary panic and pessimism among Democrats.

My apologies if this has been posted. I could not get the search function to work.

Who talks about not panicking---unless people are starting to panic a little?

Don’t Panic Over Early Exit Polls

That's usually our line.
I'll repeat it for the conservatives. And I'll add, don't rejoice too soon, either.

I think they’ve known for a while that it’s going against them. I think they’ve been trying to protect the “Down Ballot” races for the House and Senate etc....

This is the best sign I’ve seen that they know it’s over. They are just fighting to keep the other down ticket races viable.

In other words: “If you can’t save me, at least avoid a down-ticket disaster like 2010”.

If early exit polls look bad for Zero, don’t look to the MSM to release them.

Drudge will probably release them.

I wonder if Steph’s “concern” has anything to do with this:

My warning, we need to stay calm for much of the day...

Ok - tin foil has been duct-taped to my head. Much of the day is not all of the day. What happens at the end of the day - say 10-11 PM when the thing is called? Then the calmness can go away and the rioting can ensue? Not liking the implication.

I highly recommend creating unnecessary panic and pessimism among Democrats for much of the day, thus lowering turnout.

Oh ya don’t forget to let the dems know that because of Sandy, they get to vote on Wednesday as well, no rush needed.

Exactly. She knows Obama is done, but needs them to still turn out to avoid a down ticket debacle.

The strange thing is I am close to a local Obama headquarters. The parking lot is empty. No teams of people coming in from New York as in the past.I really don't think he wants to be reelected.Everyone was told to stand down and this is all an act for the people down ticket as they say.
