Florida’s presidential election is half over
Miami Herald ^ | 11/5/2012 | By Marc Caputo and Trevor Aaronson

Election Day could already be half over in Florida before polling stations open at 7 a.m.

More than 4.5 million people have voted early, which accounts for 38 percent of the state’s 12 million registered voters and half of the ones likely to cast a ballot.

Democrats have a lead in total ballots cast over Republicans — 167,000 — but polls indicate Republican Mitt Romney is in a better position than President Barack Obama.

Obama is worse off than he was four years ago. Depending on how the data is sliced, his pre-Election Day lead could be half of what it was in 2008.

Still, Democrats are up in early ballots.

“It’s half-over, but it’s tied,” said Michael McDonald, a George Mason University political science professor and early voting expert. “There’s still another half to play.”

The 167,000 cushion doesn’t include independent voters and how many of those Dem voters voted for Obama? Obama had a 500,000 vote cushion in 2008 and won by just 240,000 votes. 8.2 million votes were cast in 2008.

When I vacationed in the panhandle 2 weeks ago I saw tremendous anti-Obama energy all over the place.

GO Florida!

I hope you are right. Four more years of this guy will kill me. Romney needs to win Florida, Iowa, Virginia, Wisconsin, Michigan if he doesn’t take Ohio

Obama had a massive lead in Fla. in early voting in 2008, and still only won with 51% of the vote after election day voting was over. Early voting totals by Dems are way down, so he doesn’t have much of chance in Fla.

It means that Obama takes an early lead, until all the republicans get off of work tomorrow.

I think we get Ohio but we can win without it if we get Wisconsin and Iowa.

Don't know but they are assuming that all of the Democrats will vote for Obama, maybe but I'm not convinced. Look around you and see the devastation this administration has visited on the nation.

I voted a week ago in Florida and was polled twice today, I missed the first call at 2:45 this afternoon and recieved another call at 7:45 from the same outfit (same number) on my cell.

What this means is that Romney is going to do well in Florida.

Remember that the state’s more conservative, more senior citizen voter, is going to wait for the traditional Election Day to vote. Those voters will be mostly Romney voters

Also, most of the early votes were in Central and South Florida, which tends to be liberal. Obama needs a huge advantage in early voting to take the state

What will really be telling is that the Famous/Infamous “I-4 Corridor” (Tampa Bay area....to Orlando...to Daytona) is expecting stormy weather tomorrow. Those voting groups who do not regularly vote will find excuses not to do so...while those who vote will vote regardless. This will be a big advantage to Romney

It means Zero gets crushed tomorrow.

I sure hope and pray so!

I'm way past trying to make predictions... we'll know soon enough I guess. I just hope that Romney's win is big enough to shut up the America-hating leftists for a looooooong time.

i read the entire article and this is my take....think of it as a 100 meter race; in 2008 obama had a 50 meter head start on Mccain before the race (voting on election day) ever began and still barely beat him out at the wire....right now obama has barely a 10 meter head start on Romney and he will be carrying the weight of his piss poor record from the past four years....if the results from those voting on election day tomorrow are the same as 2008, Romney wins by a big margin...

anyone correct me if I’m reading this wrong....

question on this from the article:

” African-American voters: Accounting for less than 14 percent of the electorate, they prefer to vote in person rather than by mail. Black voters have cast more than a quarter of the state’s early votes, but only about 9 percent of absentee ballots. About 90 percent of the African-American ballots are from Democrats.”

anyone know what the percentage 0 got from blacks in Florida in 2008??? speculatively it seems he’s running around 90% now and according to this goober he needs a huge black turnout in the state of Florida to win it:

Democrats have a lead in total ballots cast over Republicans — 167,000

Hell, the Supervisors of Elections shouldn't even know this number, much less the damn press! Those ballots and those registration books should be locked away tighter than a Brinks Security truck, treated with about the same care you'd give to a nuclear weapon. Early voting sucks!!! There's waaaaaaaay too much opportunity for Democrat cheating. And just knowing these numbers is more valuable to a campaign than any poll they could conduct.

In theory either side could cheat, but most people on this forum know the source of most election cheating: union thugs, "community activists", the NAACP, ACORN, etc.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the Constitution defines when election DAY is, not election MONTH.
