Yeah, Christie Hurt
National Review ^ | 11/5/12 | Rich Lowry

Posted on 11/05/2012 4:08:20 PM PST by markomalley

My understanding from checking around the last day or two–after emerging from a semi-news blackout last week–is that Christie’s robust embrace of President Obama did break through and help President Obama rebut part of Romney’s closing argument that he can work across the aisle better than the president. Yesterday, the New York Post ran an editorial begging Christie to make a strong show of support for Romney. That kind of show of support might have been particularly important to Romney (and convenient for Christie) in the Philadelphia suburbs. But now it’s too late.

UPDATE: Jon Ward reports on Christie turning down a Romney request to appear at his Philly-area rally.

Chris Christie is now public enemy number one in my book. I will do all I can to help ensure he never wins another election.

Obama was DOA until Christie decided to “John Roberts” us on the beach.

Has Christie gone mad? I've heard the presidential aspirations theory. I find that hard to believe, but I can't think of a better reason.

This episode really ticked me off.

Christie’s sucking up to Obama was pathetic. Is he hoping to get Chrissy Matthews’ job at PMSNBC after the men in white coats do their job? Christie reminds us that you can’t even trust the people who are supposedly on the same side of the aisle.

He wants to run for president in 2016. Occam’s razor.

If Romney loses the election, we will get Obamacare, a liberal Supreme Court and a disastrous economy heading south. And this will be Christie’s handiwork, in my view, Christie may not want to run for reelection as governor next year. By then, Christie may be in Obama’s Second Term cabinet or he may have switched to become a Democrat and taken the aging Lautenburg’s senate seat as a reward.

Christie just as well become a Dimocrat after this ultra-stupid move. He had no business shooting Romney and the GOP in the back like this.

Krispy Kreme has always been a RINO and now he has removed any chance of running as a Republican in the future. He probably did us a favor.

Christie is proof that a big tough talker is just all big tough talk.

When push comes to shove and a crisis hits, he finds the nearest security blanket.

What a putz.

I think I figured it out while listening to a news report on the radio this afternoon. Christie is an obsessed fan of Bruce Springsteen, and has seen over a hundred Springstreen concerts (OMG, who does that?!?) The other day, after one of Obozo’s rallies with Springsteen, Obozo had Sprinsteen call and talk to Chris Christie.

So, my theory, the cost for Christie’s betrayal was much less than 30 pieces of silver...it was a promised phone call from Bruce Springsteen.

If its true that Christie refused to campaign with Romney then he is a schmuck. Maybe Obama promised him a cabinet position, I wouldn’t be surprised. At first I thought Christie was suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder after witnessing the destruction that occurred in New Jersey, but now, after hearing this additional info, Christie is all about himself..should have known, he gave that boring speech at the RNC Convention people were speculating then something was up

Christie also refused Mitt’s request to appear with him at the PA. rally.

Here's the bottom line: Chris Christie is finished in the Republican Party, and has been for quite some time. His ONE HOPE of career advancement was that Mitt Romney would pick him as running mate so that he could slip into the pole position for 2016 or 2020.

That desperation hope was completely dashed when Romney picked Ryan for VP. Since then he has undermined the ticket in ways large and small and tooted his own horn. There are too many serious, attractive conservatives in his way (Ryan, Rand Paul, Rubio, ...) for Christie to ever advance up the career ladder. Barring a cabinet appointment -- which now will NEVER HAPPEN -- Christie (might) get reelected as NJ governor, and then he's done.

Yes, Christie might well have hurt Romney, but he's completely destroyed himself.

I agree that Christie went overboard.
After all of his groveling what was accomplished for the people of Jersey I live here and feel for those on the coast!
All 0 did was answer a photo phone call.
Christie could have waited for the performance before giving the standing ovation!
On a Side note was good to see the Marines land @ Staten Island to get things under way!

He was a flash in the Republican pan. I hope this ends any further talk about his presidential aspirations.

It definitely wasn’t a pretty sight—Christie walking around in his little white tennis shoes next to the pompous Obama.

The combination of this and his “it’s all about me” (and very little about Romney) speech at the Republican National Convention pretty much nailed him for what he is. He’s very clearly merely a self-serving politician who would gladly see his country go down the drain (AKA the consequence of Obama having a 2nd term) if it served to promote his perceived self interest.

An earlier poster above said that Christie was “dead to” him. I agree with that; he’s dead to me also. He’s revealed himself as a truly despicable human being.

I heard Christie was being vetted for the VP slot and was confident he’d be chosen but after the European trip last summer Mitt chose Paul Ryan instead. Supposedly Christie is miffed by this and it also explains why Christie mentioned Romney so seldom during his convention speech. Supposedly he is a sore loser.

He need to lose 150 pounds and get the poison out of his system. Maybe then he could think straight. NJ is hard enough to handle without 40 weight motor oil running through you veins! Seriously!
